We made the mistake though of trying to take a short cut through WV on a trip to DC. I'm guessing the phrase "short cut" has never been uttered in that state. What are the Big 12's other options?The Big East conference is suing West Virginia as the two take their heated fight off the athletic fields and into court.
The breach of contract lawsuit is an attempt to get WVU to comply with the conference’s 27-month notification practice before exiting the league for the Big 12. Earlier this week, WVU filed suit against the Big East, claiming that the conference has breached its contract by forgoing a competitive football-basketball balance in the league.

The Big 12 announced that West Virginia has accepted an invitation to join the league. The school has paid half of the Big East’s $5 million exit fee, but the Big East has said it will not allow WVU to compete in the Big 12 in 2012 as the school desires.
Also, Big 12 interim commissioner Chuck Neinas said that for scheduling purposes, the conference needs to have a 10-team roster. I gotta think that Mizzou wants out ASAP but is delaying its official departure until the Big 12 finds a replacement. For waiting I bet the Big 12 is giving Mizzou a break on its exit penalties. But how long will Mizzou be willing to wait? Another year? I can't imagine them wanting to go through a year and a half of being a Big 12 lame duck.
