It is hard to keep track of all the updates when 2 BCS conferences continue to pursue BYU, even after BYU has rejected both in the past several months! :rockon1:Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostYou need to go to the Beast expansion thread for that.

Did I miss something? When did BYU reject BCS conferences?Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostIt is hard to keep track of all the updates when 2 BCS conferences continue to pursue BYU, even after BYU has rejected both in the past several months! :rockon1:"Take it to the Bank"

Over the summer, BYU said no to Big East inquiries and recently a deal with the Big 12 fell through because BYU did not want to give up its powerful deal with ESPN.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostDid I miss something? When did BYU reject BCS conferences?
I found it fascinating that ESPN recently confirmed BYUs TV ratings dominance in the SLC market this season. Did you know that the rebroadcast of BYU Oregon State drew higher ratings than the live broadcast of the Utah Pitt game?

There have been no offers. NONE. This place is becoming more like Cougarboard by the day.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostDid I miss something? When did BYU reject BCS conferences? When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I have a hard time believing this, mostly because of the Longhorn Network, which is working to be added to DirecTV and Dish. Are you really going to argue that ESPN is going to pay Texas $15 million per year and not have it allowed to be national?Originally posted by myboynoah View PostBYU football: Collaboration kept TV streak alive
It sounds like this was probably the major hang-up with BYU to the Big 12. Not being able to broadcast BYU's third tier games on BYUtv was probably too much for Fox to ask.
This was great:

The distribution of BYUTV is national without a subscription. I wonder if that is the hangup.Originally posted by aCougarFONT View PostI have a hard time believing this, mostly because of the Longhorn Network, which is working to be added to DirecTV and Dish. That seems like a pretty subtle distinction since it is arguably not true, as it still requires a "subscription" to a pay TV service. In any case, I would suspect that "national" means available nationally with no regard as to specifying the tier or package you need to subscribe to.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostThe distribution of BYUTV is national without a subscription. Yeah, I don't know--I'm guessing. But I would suspect that the difference lies in the fact that only Texas fans would bypass a Fox broadcast game for something on the Longhorn Network (because they would be the only ones to have paid extra money for it), whereas a BYUTV broadcast game would potentially compete with their broadcast in a much higher number of households.Originally posted by aCougarFONT View PostThat seems like a pretty subtle distinction since it is arguably not true, as it still requires a "subscription" to a pay TV service.
