Edit: I'm not claiming any insider info. I'm just changing my approach. I was stoked about independence 12 months ago. Nothing has changed that should make me feel worse. Superconferences are still aways off. The team sucks right now, but that will change in the next year or two. Basketball is going to kill it in the WCC. Things are good my Cougar brethren. One things we probably need to understand in independence is that highs will be much higher, but the lows will also be lower. This ride ain't for the faint of heart!

It isn't just Holtz and Dodds there are many media outlets that have speculated about BYU, but you are right, the Big12 as a group has not mentioned BYU in the public. However, the only official public discussion of any expansion target by the Big12 was the announcment of TCU's invitation. I am sure you would agree that the conference is likely having discussions with and about other expansion schools privately. You think BYU is not part of the private discussion. Other people disagree with you. It is ALL speculation until the official invite comes because the Big12 isn't saying much.

We just have to realize that we're not wanted. BYU = the missionaries tracting on Saturday afternoons; very few people have ill will toward the poor chaps, but no on wants to let them in either.

Indy is the best way to go, then.

Unfortunately, I used to use conference championships as a way to assuage the grief of not being in a BCS Bowl/NC Game. So, what do I cheer for now?

I don't think it will. Last year was a surprise when you whiny ass Huskers thought having a bunch of drunk Scando's pounding your asses was better than Bevo or Stoops doing the deed. The Big 12 was not ready to expand, but I am pretty convinced when the dust settles there will be 12 teams, perhaps not all will join immediately but there will be 12 identified members. I also predict that BYU will be 1 of the 12!

I'm asking a reasonable question. Don't let your emotions get the best of you. I've had the courage to say from the beginning that I don't expect BYU to go to the Big 12. If you know me at all you must know that has been a sincere opinion based on facts.
