T. Boone Pickens in the booth right now at the OkSt/Arizona game. Says he's not sure that aTm is going to the SEC. Also says OkSt ain't gunna sue, which I'm sure the President loves.
Edit: Also says he thinks you'll know pretty quick. OkSt wants to stay in the B12, and is a package with OU.
But take whatever T. Boone says with grain of salt.
Double Edit: It did seem like T. Boone was skirting specific answers on the questions. I can't imagine that he doesn't know exactly what's going on.
the most pumped up arse of all-time. Everyone has rich benefactors. KU has several, OU has em, Texas has a pile of em and I'd imagine BYU has em. In fact some places (like KU) have several benefactors who's pile dwarfs T Boones's pile. However, not everyone turns the university over to their benefactors like OkieState. Honestly, having that guy front OkieState on teevee just reinforces the white trash image of the University. Kinda like a bunch of prairiebillies in the administration down there in Stoolwater chipped in and won the Lotto then allowed the biggest prairiebilly of all to go on teevee w/ a toothpick hanging out of his mouth talking about their formula for picking the powerball number.
Don't listen to that man. Look at the rest of the Big 12. If it were coming apart, back deals would be popping up left and right. The fact that KU ain't negotiating w/ the Big East and Mizzou ain't lifting her skirt to the SEC is all the evidence ya'll need that the deal is done. aTm gone by next week w/ a middle of the road penalty, OU rather than Tejas becomes the glue holding the Big 12 together, BYU in the Big 12 and Beebe becomes the biggest proponent of 'back to twelve' on earth as the SEC turns toward WVU and the Big 12 takes a shot at Louisville/Pitt.
Also, the LHN has become the biggest ball and chain in college football. UT is now a slave to it. The rest of the Big 12 now realizes this and are acting accordingly.
Yes, that makes sense. Bring all the luminaries to Provo, especially the esteemed T Boone, and do it up right with mint brownies and all.
Seriously, I agree. Let's do this at our home in front of our fans. But they could at least announce it asap.
Might as well have the Anschutz family from KU or the HeeHaw family from Norman there. Just have that doofus Beebe fly out on a fine Wichita built Cessna Citation to grovel in front of Samuelson/Holmoe in the Marriot Center. Soon thereafter, Beebe needs to fly that Wichita built Citation to Pittsburg and begin the process again there.
I can't help but think that the Big 12 would actually be better off without Texas A&M at this point. TAMU going back now would be similar to BYU going back to the MWC after trying to launch the independence project. How can the two side co-exist after all that has gone down?
It's just a matter of negotiating the price. This time, though, we're gonna make it hurt to walk out of the Big 12. Letting CU out of their obligations for $6 million was a mistake.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk, Beat Mizzou
I agree. They should pay dearly for leaving and start by giving back the money they got from CU and Nebraska leaving last year.
I'm just posting this here so all the people who called BS and flamed me for passing along a second-hand Samuelson quote can now do the same to Greg Wrubell.
Yeah I find it hard to believe we'd announce when our AD isn't even in the state of Utah or any of the coaches/players for that matter.
I don't think Viking should follow through on his leaving for a year pledge, I'd much rather have him just come clean about why he enjoys BSing on here :P.
I really think you need to go back and look at what I've said then compare with the newsflow. I've been ahead of every major shift in this drama, particularly the Pac16 shift, which was nowhere in the news and you guys heard about that here first.
There's no BS. I will absolutely go away for a year as promised. That's how much I believe in my buddy. If he was wrong, he was wrong...nothing's ever certain but to accuse me of trolling this board does not at all jibe with what's happened here.
I am pretty surprised we're not hearing more and yes, I'm expecting (sort of) at this point to be gone for a while, though I will post my game score predictions because I like that a lot.
Just a thought on Cecil Samuelson's comments and the comments of BYU brass in general. I know that the BYU AD told all of the coaches earlier this year that BYU would not join a conference ... at least not for a long while. He specifically mentioned the Big XII. Clearly, Cecil said he thought BYU would only participate in sports with other faith based institutions. I have stumbled across a bit of inside information at times. That information has taught me something either (1) BYU brass lies/spins/prevaricates/shades the truth or (2) BYU brass is as changeable and propaganda focused as the Church is in general. They generally sucker those who think BYU administration press conferences and general conference are the same thing. At the end of the day, the BOT wants BYU to act, as much as is possible with its particular challenges and restrictions, just like the other institutions of higher learning. Their guidance seems broad stroke based and their management style is generally very macro. We are a long way from the E. L. Wilkinson years.
Losing Rex Lee was the worst thing that happened to his family and to BYU.
Since the Theocracy assumed control of BYU, we've managed to put ourselves on a clear path to Oral Roberts status.
I don't blame Samuelson, though.
But to the alumni...those of us whose livelihoods are dependent in many ways on the world's perception of BYU...they have a duty to act in a responsible manner in ways to build credibility for the university and that includes, prominently, our sports teams and their exposure.
The Big 12 is a no brainer at this point (OU/UT not going anywhere).

Don't take off, I enjoy your passion and confidence. You'd be missed.
Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I second this - stick around even if the worse happens
I may be small, but I'm slow.
A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."
I find it funny how quickly these guys fall for this stuff. (Cue LA Ute rolling his eyes at me)

The tweet from Wrubell was approximately three hours ago. If you're going to attack someone for putting dated information out there, I'm sure his e-mail address is easy to find. My only purpose in posting it was to highlight a little bit of irony. Of course, it naturally has become an "abbrasive" attack on me for linking it here, and daring once again to post something that could in any way be construed as contrary to the popular opinion that BYU should kiss the Cirque du Big 12's butt at the first possible opportunity.
If you think I have developed a track record of abbrasiveness, I'd love to get your impressions of some others on this board.
