  • Wilner's tweet:

Heard momentum turning in Big 12. League has chance to survive. OU may be backing down. Good source but ONLY ONE SOURCE. Still digging.
    EDIT:

    Then this one:

To be clear on previous post: Source said, essentially, what looked like lost cause is no longer lost. But situation remains very fragile.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I liked Hannibal. A lot more than Stillwater. Plus, Twain really ended up a Connecticut Yankee.

      • More from Wilner:

I'm starting to buy the narrative that Texas wants no part of Pac-12 and will do anything to keep B12 alive. (Now watch it implode tmrrw.)
Hard to imagine Longhorns agreeing to a situation in which they have the same voting power and same revenue slice as Texas Tech.

        • From that LandThieves guy:

Heard tonight OU may have got me all hot and bother for the Pac in order to pressure Texas into revenue sharing & longterm BigXII contract
Texas brass flipped shit after Borens Friday presser, doesnt want to go Indy yet. no other conference will take their 3rd tier network
So I got a football boner over the Pac16.. plans look like Big XII may stick around, OU willing to concede some $ to gain some goodwill
Don't expect some dracuian contract either. It'll have some teeth to it but it wont be a total sledghammer to the balls

          • More from LandThieves:

Boren STILL has concerns about ability to attract 3 quality teams but revenue sharing & a fiercer contract should help
Now = revenue sharing is like bait on a hook to certain AQ schools. Non AQ will come running anyway but you bait the hook see who nibbles

Yeah... fun town to visit, but if Stillwater is worse... wow.

What else did he think they were doing? OU obviously doesn't have real interest in the Pacwhatever.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I find it funny how quickly these guys fall for this stuff. (Cue LA Ute rolling his eyes at me)

                  • Just a thought on Cecil Samuelson's comments and the comments of BYU brass in general. I know that the BYU AD told all of the coaches earlier this year that BYU would not join a conference ... at least not for a long while. He specifically mentioned the Big XII. Clearly, Cecil said he thought BYU would only participate in sports with other faith based institutions. I have stumbled across a bit of inside information at times. That information has taught me something either (1) BYU brass lies/spins/prevaricates/shades the truth or (2) BYU brass is as changeable and propaganda focused as the Church is in general. They generally sucker those who think BYU administration press conferences and general conference are the same thing. At the end of the day, the BOT wants BYU to act, as much as is possible with its particular challenges and restrictions, just like the other institutions of higher learning. Their guidance seems broad stroke based and their management style is generally very macro. We are a long way from the E. L. Wilkinson years.

That's the cognitive dissonance so many seem to have about BYU. Of course they mislead the press and the public. Up front honesty in all your communications is a great way to lose all your leverage.
If we disagree on something, it's because you're wrong.

Thanks for the insight, kdog. It's nice to see that they are flexible enough to change course when the course changes. Who knew this would present itself so soon. Let's hope this gets done.

I find it hard to believe they would formally announce at a road game. Especially not at UT given the questions about UTs influence over other conference members. Wouldn't they want the News conference at their own place?

Yes, that makes sense. Bring all the luminaries to Provo, especially the esteemed T Boone, and do it up right with mint brownies and all.

Seriously, I agree. Let's do this at our home in front of our fans. But they could at least announce it asap.

                              • Yeah I find it hard to believe we'd announce when our AD isn't even in the state of Utah or any of the coaches/players for that matter.

I don't think Viking should follow through on his leaving for a year pledge, I'd much rather have him just come clean about why he enjoys BSing on here :P.
