Clay Travis is on your side! He thinks you are getting House of Cards by another school aiming to get in the Big 12. So you got that going for you, which is nice.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I'd heard that about you.

Well, could be, but could also be just another school . . .
Yeah - I think this would get much more run in the PAC. In the BigXII, in some ways it's a bit of a meh. Not necessarily something to be ignored, of course. But not a deal breaker by itself.
This is somewhat true. Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas are very, very different from anywhere in the PAC except for Utah, for obvious reasons. Mormons are no where near the most conservative people in these parts. Oklahoma is even more conservative than Texas. However, the universities do tend to be more liberal, with Texas being the most liberal. But Texas would probably be considered conservative f it were located on the east coast.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. Geez, the mass HYSTERIA on cougarboard right now is just embarrassing. No one from the Big 12 has said anything except one tweet from Bowlsby that in ANY other context would interpreted the same as the type of worthless form letter you get for writing your congressman. Outside of cougarboard and some of its spinoffs and the hardcore activist wing of the LGBT movement there really seems to be very little reaction out there. Everyone needs to chill out. In the next couple of days they will have worked out the details with the TV partners and the schools and we'll know. And BYU will be in. That's my analysis of the information that is out there. If I'm wrong, so be it. I just don't think I am.

They don't. their intern hits a button on a computer and you get a pointless letter that says about the same thing "Bowlsby's" tweet did.
And its signed with an auto-pen!
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

When I think about it, this LGBT group probably has a lot less leverage here than anywhere else. What are they going to do, boycott attending Big12 games? Boycott watching Big12 games? This is a different situation than during the 19070s when teams would refuse to play BYU because of the PH ban. It's not totally different, but it's certainly different. Not to use too much stereotype, but I doubt most of these people couldn't care less about Big12 football and they only want a stage from which to be heard. I'm not saying their concerns aren't legitimate, but I guess I'm not shocked that the story isn't getting a lot of play by national media. Their timing was also horrible, with the Olympics going on and Tim Tebow's absurd announcement (thanks Tim!).
It's also nice to have our favorite Ute fans come around with their apparent smugness when things start to look bleak. Now I hope we get in just so their shit-eating grins turn into tears.
Also, if we get in, it would attest to the worth of BYU's athletic program. Just think, our school's policy are in contradiction to one of the biggest social movements of the decade and we still got in.

That's like saying "because we have always done it this way" is a good defense.
wat?
Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

Folks in Big 12 country are far more concerned about the strange mormon religion (e.g., magic underwear, secret temples, books written in Egyptian, etc.) than any crap the LGBT groups are trying to stir up. Note which states were quick to add legal definitions about marriage being between a man and a woman and tried to defend it in federal court. The Baptists are pretty embarrassed about their huge rape scandal down at Baylor to make much of a stink about the mormons and BYU right now. I make it a point to bring that up with my Baylor/Baptist friends as much as possible. In short, I was surprised that Bowlsby even responded to the LGBT groups' letter.
