So it's ok for someone to say they don't think the policies are hateful, but not so ok to point out that that has no bearing on whether they actually are hateful?

Yeah, it's an anecdote, but one that hit close to home and was a big deal in the local stake as he was a universally loved kid of a well known family.

The so-called hateful policies & practices of the Church in practice led to that kid being "universally loved," as you said. But maybe that's just an anecdote.

The gay rights movement has been very effective in achieving their goals by framing the issue in terms of "civil rights" & "hate", so that any differing viewpoint is dismissed as hate even though it's not.

I'm pretty moderate as well, even liberal from some people's perspective. But I wonder how many like minded people will be alienated by the LGBT community when they try to play politics with their football team. I'm pretty ticked. I'll likely calm down and put this in perspective later, but for now I'm ready to fight.

3 of my five siblings, and my parents all pray for the day when gay marriage will be permitted in the temple. Another has cut off the family as he has become, despite being the only son not to serve a mission, an Opus Dei LDS member and a mysoginistic bigot with literally a child's understanding of the LDS doctrine (his traits, not the church's). The other has left the church but is an ardent supporter of church members as am I.
