      I remember back in the day when DDD would post all the tweets from MHVer3, theWVDude, Tuxedo Yoda, and all the other insiders. I don't miss those days or those tweets.
      "Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

        I like what he is saying...

        @MHver3 who did ESPN approve?
        @MurrDCU ESPN simply asked that we include BYU since it will be less of a pay bump

        @MHver3 does byu still have votes even with recent news
        @utlax5 it appears so.

        Fox wants to get it done quickly before there is more public backlash against BYU. That could complicate things.

        • BYU and Big 12 expansion: LGBT group Athlete Ally executive director answers questions about letter opposing BYU's candidacy

          Tell me about the response you have received to the letter.

          TAYLOR: We heard back from the commissioner of the Big 12 Conference (Bob Bowlsby) pretty quickly and he thanked us for putting the letter together and let us know that it would definitely be taken into consideration as they continue to decide who will and will not be added to the Big 12 Conference.

          Definitely there have been a lot of reactions in a way that I wasn't quite prepared for. Anytime you have conversations around the LGBT community and sports, you have the potential to draw a line in the sand in which you have those who are passionate about LGBT equality, who want to ensure that LGBT athletes, coaches and administrators are safe and protected at an event or institution, and then you have sports fans who I think maybe have never thought about the experiences of LGBT athletes or how policies might negatively impact athletes, fans and administrators.

          This letter I think brought to the surface some of that divide in education and awareness around LGBT issues in sports.
          What the heck is he talking about? This is offensive to suggest that LGBT athletes, coaches and administrators are unsafe at events at BYU.
          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

          For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

          Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

            C'mon MBN, get with the times. "Safety", like many other words, has now been overridden to encompass more than mere physical safety. Modern usage encompasses emotional and mental safety as well.

              My emotional and mental safety has been compromised by this whole thing!

              Someone listen to me!

              • At BYU, it is possible for a gay graduate student to LEGALLY get married and be kicked out of school for doing so. Can people not see how messed up the policy is?

                Reading Cougarboard. Lots of people crying "bigotry" against Mormons. It's not bigotry if people do not want to vote for David Duke because he used to be in the Klan. That's just common sense.

                If Mormons want their university to be respected, then the Mormon Church needs to treat gay people equally.

                  I've felt unsafe at events at BYU and I'm straight. Imagine how it is for LGBTers. Provo is a scary, scary place.

                    So gay undergraduate students are OK to get married then?

                        Guess what, they can also get kicked out for engaging in lots of other "legal" behavior as well. Look, I wish BYU and the Church had a softer touch on this issue as well but they also ought to be able to set their own standards for admission and continued enrollment. The standards are not hidden and if a person does not like what BYU has to offer, there are numerous other options that will fit their needs.

                          Alcohol and coffee are different.

                          Being gay isn't a STANDARD. It's a person's sexual orientation.

                          No one is questioning whether BYU or the Klan have the right to discriminate against gays. But to think that they can discriminate against gays without consequences is absurd.

                            Unfortunately, as a graduate, I missed the window of opportunity.

                              It is possible for someone drinking alcohol to be kicked out of BYU and Baylor also. Good hell, their policies are so messed up. Alcoholics are people too! It is not like they could go to some other school... oh wait.

                                Is it possible that someone that is LGBTQ might feel legitimately threatened when visiting a place like BYU if they don't have an understanding of LDS policies? I don't think it is a stretch.
