    The ink's not dry on Nebraska to the Big 10, and the main origin of that story is coming out of Chip Brown. As for Texas, aTm, Okie State, OU and Tech leaving for the Pac 10, hasn't that also been coming from Chip Brown? What happens if this guy's been fed a line of bullshit from someone who's been trying to obscure what's really been going on?
    Yes, Chip Brown is mostly full of shit. What I've been saying. Have you ever heard of the Peter Principle?

    Updated hierarchy:

    1) Colorado to Pac 10 (I assume nothing's inked);

    2) Utah to Pac 10;

    3) Big 12 South stays intact;

    4) Big 12 South or best thereof goes to SEC;

    5) Nebraska stays in Big 12;

    6) Big 12 North rebuilt with with MWC, Conf. USA, or Big East raids;

    7) Nebraska, Texas and TAMU go to Big 10;

    8) Big 12 South or best thereof goes to Pac 10;

    9) Best of Big 12 North goes to Big 10 and Big East;

    10) Best of Big 12 North takes best of MWC, WAC and Conference USA and rebuilds the Big 8/12.

    • This is now the longest thread in the Stadium by 3x?!? Hopefully this expansion stuff will go on for awhile... What better way to lure DDD to log on again than to knock the thread I have vowed to never click on at the top of Kasey's most requested song of the week list?

        I sure want to believe this is true, and the arguments presented here seem sound.

          Way to go out on a limb regarding Colorado to the Pac-10.

          • Madison, Twin Cities, Iowa, 2 trips to Indiana or Pacific Northwest, LA, the Bay Area and Phoenix? Tough choice.

                Play in front of 110k at Michigan, OSU, and PSU, or play in front of 40k at farmville 3 times a year?

                • Texas and Texas A&M are NOT going to the BIG 10. Oklahoma sports radio reporters are all saying that the story is BS. Consider the source--a TV station from Kansas City that does not even have a sports reporting staff. Mizzou and KU are mad, and it's a story out of Kansas City. This is a last ditch effort to create problems between the 5 other BIG 12 schools that were planning to defect as a group to the PAC 10.

                  OU, Oklahoma State, Texas, and Texas A&M are a package. They cannot be separated.

                    It seems like all the roads lead back to Chip. Maybe he has some fantastic source, I don't know. But this is a radio guy in Austin. Essentially, the stories are all being sourced to Austin's version of Gordon Monson. In other words, I'll believe it when I see it.

                    There are just some things I can't get past. First of all, Stanford balked at Texas's inclusion into the Pac 10 back in the early 90s. I linked a story out of a San Antonio newspaper back a few months ago. Now, are we to think that Stanford and Cal are on board with adding schools like Okie State and Texas Tech into the Pac 10? It just sounds strange to me.

                    Second, are the Arizona schools cool with getting hitched to the Big 12 South and basically cutting most of its cord with the rest of the Pac 10? Phoenix and Tuscon are, what, 400-500 miles away from So Cal? They'd be doubling or tripling the distance between themselves and their high density recruiting spot (Texas). If I were either school, I'm not sure if I would be supportive of this.

                    Third, I don't see the advantage to Texas of doing this as opposed to just filling the spots in the Big 12 North. Texas is obviously doing just fine with the current configuration, it's the richest school in college athletics. While I definitely see why Nebraska would want to join the Big 10, I don't see why Nebraska necessarily is the lynchpin in the whole thing. Besides last season, Nebraska has been essentially absent over the past 8 seasons or so. In that time, Oklahoma played for the national title three times, and Texas played twice. These two schools can stay put and be just fine. If they want to join the Pac 10, SEC or Big 10 at some later point, they'll always have that option. Texas and Oklahoma are the obvious lynchpins, aTm less so.
                    Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                      Wouldn't it be easier to win in front of 40k? Isn't everyone saying the P10 sucks? So you have easy wins and better places to visit. Win-Win-Win.

                        I still think this could be good for us. The former Big 12 will probably want to go back to at least 10 teams, and we know we're near the top of that list somewhere.

                          It would be without OU, OSU, UT and aTm... and no Utah. That is bad.

                          • Why not Kansas over Utah as the 12th team for the Pac 10?

                              Plus, does Texas enjoy the upper Midwest weather in October and November?

                              For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

                              Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                                But the number of schools allows for retention of BCS status and ties ins. It beats a MWC that has lost Utah.
