The thought of 2 auto-bids per super-conference or a 4-team playoff makes my head hurt. 2 "at-large" bids you say? My ass! In that scenario the chance of a non-super getting an "at-large" bid is close to nil.

I 100% agree with this. Also, it will kill BYU and Utah's recruiting. These two schools would be able to go at beat some of the tier 2 BCS schools on kids and develop them, I don't think they get those kids now. It will kill recruiting for these schools. BYU won't be hurt as bad because of the LDS tie but all in all, this is horrible for Utah and BYU.

I disagree. If the college football landscape turns into the four 16 team super conferences that many are predicting BYU and and Utah will be on the outside looking in and it will really hurt both programs.

            • This is the part of Chip Brown's post that is most depressing:

In a related development, sources close to the Pac-10/Big 12 merger say the new, 16-team super conference will push for two BCS bids with the Big 12 dissolving and losing theirs.

In that case, you could have a BCS bid for the Western Division winner among USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington and Washington State.

As well as a BCS bid for the Eastern Division winner among Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Arizona and Arizona State.

That will be met with resistance from the other BCS conferences as they try to expand and could lead to the formula of each division winner in one of the newly formed super conferences receiving a bid into an 8-team playoff.
Well, of course! Isn't this what the high-income conferences have wanted all along? (Notice I said "high-income," which is the only real dividing line.)

There will need to be some representation of the non-BCS schools or legal wrangling and government hearings will overwhelm the process. But as Orangebloods.com laid out over the weekend, there are athletic directors involved in this whole process who see this coming.
Oh, of course, those who are getting really screwed in this process need to be pacified by throwing them a bone - namely, a chance to make it to a high-income bowl if they go undefeated.

This is the clear-eyed, realistic point of view, I am sorry to say.

Uh, the state's two schools are an island in the Pac-16 sea.

Man, I have been the bear on all of this conference expansion, not because I didn't believe it. But because I didn't want to believe it. This fucking sucks.

Like I said, Utah will be flyover country. PAC-16 East and West flying over BYU and Utah to play each other.

Seriously. I am left hoping for anti-trust violations here.

It is going to happen, the dominos will fall, SU will look like a complete jack ass once again and so will all of those shit talking Ute fans.

Utah, BYU, TCU and Boise will be left scrambling for the Big 12s scraps, I doubt they get them, the Big 10 will then invite Rutgers, Syracuse and Pitt. The remaining BIg East teams will take Kansas, K-state, Iowa State and Baylor. The MWC will not change.

Unfortunately, this is how I see things shaking out as well. It gives the BCS an opportunity to have a "playoff" from the best 8 teams from the 4 superconferences. The "haves" will continue to get more money and the "have-nots" will get less and less.

I think this is the only thing that we as fans of Utah and BYU have in our back pocket.

It isn't looking good for us. I hope I am wrong.

Though we could add Kansas and KSU and become the new ACC.

I think Kansas will get eaten up by one of the 4 big dogs like Junkie pointed out. They have a ton to offer a conference especially in Basketball.
