    East
    * Missouri
    * Kansas
    * Kansas State
    * Iowa State
    * Baylor
    * TCU

    West
    * BYU
    * Utah
    * Boise State
    * Air Force
    * Colorado St.
    * UNLV

    I like that. I would like to play at least 4 of the teams from the East each year. I wouldn't need more than two OOC games. The really good teams won't play us and I really can't get excited about playing the bottom rung of the big boy conferences.

        Drop CSU from that and it looks great.

          I see big east getting poached by SEC and ACC before they take the leftovers of the big 12

          Plus: the Big east is already bloated for their other sports adding more may not work.

            I would drop CSU and add in SDSU or Fresno. California is such a big recruiting target for us and the recruits want home games near their family. I think Fresno would be the best program unless they can get things turned around on the football field at SDSU. The SDSU basketball team is ripe for a disaster too as soon as some figures out that Coach Fisher has been dead for more than three years now. Go with Fresno!

            • As things now stand, here is the hierarchy of possibilities, ranked by likelihood:

              1) Colorado to Pac 10 (I assume nothing's inked);

              2) Utah to Pac 10;

              3) Big 12 South stays intact;

              4) Big 12 South or best thereof goes to SEC;

              5) Nebraska stays in Big 12;

              6) Nebraska goes to Big 10;

              7) Big 12 North rebuilt with with MWC, Conf. USA, or Big East raids;

              8) Big 12 South or best thereof goes to Pac 10;

              9) Best of Big 12 North goes to Big 10 and Big East;

              10) Best of Big 12 North takes best of MWC, WAC and Conference USA and rebuilds the Big 8/12.

                But who do you add? New Mexico only if you want to really be a much stronger basketball conference. Fresno is too far west and if the eastern teams are going to go that far west they may be more inclined to go east and join up with Big East cast offs. That leaves UTEP, Wyoming*, Nevada ... no thanks.

                *I do love landpoke but they gotta do what's best for the conference.

You've only got 5 teams in your scenario. If I'm wrong someone tell me. I do not know if exceptions can be requested.
                  Is there anything that says that it can't be 6 teams that were together for 5 years in another conference? In other words, 6 teams from the MWC join the Big 12 would preserve the conference under NCAA rules. I may be mistaken, but I think that NCAA rule applies to NCAA tournament auto-bids, and not continued existence of the conference.

                    2) Utah to Pac 10; Still possible but move it way down

                    3) Big 12 South stays intact; NOPE

                    6) Nebraska goes to Big 10; YEP move this way up to just under Colorado

                    7) Big 12 North rebuilt with with MWC, Conf. USA, or Big East raids; Move this down

                    8) Big 12 South or best thereof goes to Pac 10;Move this up to just under Nebraska to Big 10

                    9) Best of Big 12 North goes to Big 10 and Big East; This is about right...near bottom

                    10) Best of Big 12 North takes best of MWC, WAC and Conference USA and rebuilds the Big 8/12.this is about right maybe up one slot

                    • So I guess the Texas to Big10 thing didn't ever pan out? I'm still not sure why Texas would be so keen on the Pac10 when its stated concern about the Big10 of too much travel will be about the same. Maybe it's because the Big10 didn't want Texas' hangers-on? This would be my favorite scenario. They could even bring fellow AAU member A&M with them.

                        Texas won't be traveling any more than they do now. They'll be in an 8 team division playing 7 FB games and 14 BB games with the same teams they always have + the two AZ schools.

                            As always, follow the television money.

                            If Texas and Co go to the PAC-10, I would expect an announcement about a PAC-10 network to be up and subscribeable by the time Texas hits the field with PAC-10 logos on it.
