Roberts later told The World-Herald that if the Big 12 falls apart, Congress could act.
“There's going to be a lot of litigation, and then Congress will probably try to stick its nose into it,” Roberts said. “I would prefer that that not be the case, but there have always been antitrust concerns.”
Roberts suggested a Big 12 break-up could result in only four major conferences and even the demise of the NCAA.
“I think the big concern here that Congress could take a look at is how the network television contracts are driving different schools to consider different conferences to attract the money — and those that will be in those big conferences, or super conferences, will get the money and others won't,” Roberts said.

    • I say screw Kansas. Where were you when the non bcs teams were getting screwed? Same goes for you KState, Iowa St and baylor/colorado. Not to mention all the big east schools that are going to be left out. You guys should have spoken up.

Let's say surfah is correct and only the minimal happens. These jokers will suddenly shut up. I just want to get them in the MWC so we can kick their asses every year.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

        • Roberts isn't just twisting Nebraska arms on the issue. He has urged Republican Sen. John Cornyn of Texas to give Longhorns football coach Mack Brown a call.
IF this PAC-10+6 expansion goes down Texas should take Kansas and/or Utah instead of OSU, Texas Tech, Baylor and/or even Colorado. Maybe this is the reason Roberts is urging Cornyn to call Mack. Of Texas would most likely be better off financially just staying in the Big 12-(1 or 2) and starting Longhorn TV.

          • It seems Stoops is in...

With one national championship and six Big 12 championships under his belt, Oklahoma Sooners coach Bob Stoops can be optimistic in the face of big changes in the college football landscape.

On Wednesday Stoops told The Oklahoman that he is intrigued by the prospect of Oklahoma moving to the Pac-10 conference.

"It's kind of exciting to me, what the possibilities are for our program," Stoops said. "What actually it will be, I don't know. In the end, it'll be positive."

Stoops says playing the Pac-10 schools in conference could open California to OU in terms of recruiting. He compared it to Oklahoma keeping a strong footing in Texas for recruiting because the Sooners play the Big 12 South teams regularly.

"It brings everything out West into play, particularly California."
Stoops said the Big 12 has been great for the Sooners, but a change might be good, too.

"We have been in a good number of Big 12 championship games and won a number of times. Obviously, it's been good for us," Stoops said. "But the more people are talking about (the Pac-10), the more people are thinking, 'That's exciting. That's pretty cool. That has a chance to be special.' It's win/win. Best of everything."

              • Isn't the problem that Pac 10 schools share revenue equally? I'm not sure that should be so. Why should Oregon State and USC get the same sized slice?

It's ridiculous that those four California schools are eating Texas' shit when they're better by any measure, and California has 50% more population than Texas. I think the Pac 10 is suffering form a failure of leadership.

It is about the population of quality football players, my friend:

                    Chasing Texas

Texas’ recruiting dominance is well known to most fans, but the number of players the Lone Star State produces is staggering.

I do agree about the PAC-10 is suffering from a failure of leadership. Larry Scott may know women's tennis but I don't get the feeling he knows football. Texas will fix that after they join the PAC-10 and take over management.

                      • If this guys is correct again, and he has been pretty spot on, then let the fun begin

A source close to the Nebraska Board of Regents said the regents met informally Wednesday morning and agreed to move to the Big Ten and that an announcement Nebraska is leaving will come Friday.

A Fox television report out of Ohio said Nebraska now has an invitation from the Big Ten.

                            I thought this was interesting:

A high-level executive at a Big 12 institution said there have been informal conversations about who to add to the Big 12 if schools start to leave. Those schools have included BYU and Air Force.

But that same executive as well as others in the Big 12 South have told Orangebloods.com the conference will not survive if Nebraska leaves - no matter who else stays or goes.

If Nebraska were to stay in the Big 12 and Missouri and Colorado were to leave, for example, the sense is the Big 12 could attempt to add schools like BYU and Air Force to the Big 12 North and move ahead.

Texas knows that they are the big player in this and they want to be in control of this expansion thing. I seriously think that he is receiving all of his info directly from the Texas AD who is strategically leaking all of this information to him.

It is interesting nothing has been mentioned about Mizzou. It seems they may be left out of this party. Or maybe Nebraska (only) is not enough to bring down the Big 12.
