The PAC 10 expansion groundswell

None of us are privy to any of the calculations schools and conferences are making, but no doubt $$$ are key to all their motivations. Texas, the PAC 10, ND, Nebraska, and even YOhio all want to position themselves so that they are maximizing their potential $$$ at the end of this process. Using the PAC 10 to force Nebraska's and Missouri's hands may be part of Texas' effort.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

The SEC isn't on par with Texas when it comes to academics.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostHere's what I don't get. Baton Rouge is 420 highway miles from Austin, Fayetteville about 450 miles away, even Gainesville is just 900 miles and change away. If you've been in that part of the world, you realize that Texas is, yes, essentially a southern, not a western state. (For me, love of the death penalty is a handy rule of thumb.)
So, Texas wants to be in a Super Conference. Why is it fooling around with this crazy-quilt pac 10/Texas schools scenario? Texas, Oklahoma, A&M and the rest of them should just go join the SEC. Does Texas think it's that much better than Florida? Another well-endowed AAU school with vast athletic resources and a hugely populous state. A Florida-Texas axis > California > an expanded Big 10 (for sports, that is).

"Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts." -creek.

LOL, aren't you the guy that always talks about how it is all about academics? P10 academics vs. SEC academics. Game. Set. Match.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostHere's what I don't get. Texas thinks the SEC is full of inferior schools, oh and by the way they cheat the recruiting rules. Who wouldn't want to align with that?Get confident, stupid

yes he is the one always talking about academics. One thing that we learned over the past couple of days is that academics has nothing to do with this. I tried telling him that before but he wouldn't listen.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostLOL, aren't you the guy that always talks about how it is all about academics? How about this idea... Colorado to the MWC"Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. It has become apparent that a man can, within limits, follow his inclinations within the arms of the Church if he does so discreetly." - The Walking Drum

While we're at it, the MWC should seriously consider extending an invitation to Texas. And Notre Dame.Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostHow about this idea... Colorado to the MWCτὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

That isn't really true. Florida is on par. Vanderbilt is superior.Originally posted by Ted Nugent View PostThe SEC isn't on par with Texas when it comes to academics. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Nothing has happened yet has it. All that's happening is Texas trying to make Forida jealous.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View Postyes he is the one always talking about academics. Here's what's going to happen, I said it two days ago: Texas and its idiot cousins to the SEC. The Big 10 apes the SEC, gutting the Big East. The Pac takes the best of the Big 12 leavings and Utah--Utah, Kansas, Colorado, and proabably one more. This is totally in fitting with the cosmos. Kansas, Colorado and Utah are all tire 1 USA Today schools, and Kansas and Colorado are AAU schools. If Nebraska doesn't go Big 10 it will be in this group.
Kansas is a big sleeper here. Top 5 basketball tradition, growing football tradition with expanded stadium, and Kansas City and even St. Louis markets.
You heard it from SU first. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

It doesn't matter what happens at this point. My point has been proven that conference expansion has zero to do with academics which was something that you tried to shove down our throats at the start of this thread.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostNothing has happened yet has it. A realigned SEC as I propose would make more money than this freak show Scott is supposed to be comtemplating.
