I cannot believe how crazy this was today. USC and UCLA to the BIG is officially official.

What do OU and UW do? If they stay, then the P12 has a chance. But yeah, I see the B12 in a better position now.

I'm with the dude now after thinking about it more. PAC is on life support. Anyone with a ticket out to the Big 10 will jump at it and the moment one more team leaves they are dead.

Edit: I also like the dude think Oregon will not be in the Big 10. Washington is most likely candidate by a wide margin. Would love to have Oregon in the Big 12. I suppose Utah can come too if there is room but like YO said there are cultural factors to consider.

Yeah, the Pac 12 is screwed. Any additional P12 schools that the B1G will take will jump. The Big 12 is in a better position now. They need to fire Larry Scott again.

There are lots of remanding Pac 12 schools that are AAU members: UW, Colorado, AZ, Utah, Oregon, Cal, Stanford. They should take UW and Oregon, if they will jump. Pick two more (stanford, cal?) to get the B1G up to the B2G. Oregon St, Wash St, and maybe AZ St are screwed. And the B1G should punt Nebraska for not renewing their AAU membership.

18 teams, means three divisions. That's two more teams, Oregon and Washington would balance things out well, though I'm not sure who the other two teams from the current Big 10 would go with the West Coast teams.

Maybe they go to 24 teams (holy crap) and four 6 team divisions. That could be USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, Oregon and Washington. As for the other four -- Kansas, Virginia, UNC and Duke? In that scenario UNC, Duke, Virginia, Maryland, Rutgers, Penn State are in one division. Kansas is placed with Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois (?).
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                PAC12 should add Utah state.

Kind of sad to see someone's love disintegrate in front of their very eyes. But the sadness is tempered by the level of dickness with which Wilner has treated BYU over the years.

The league has very limited good options, especially as the other members scramble against each other to get on the BIG train. Bowlsby was smart to quickly go out and secure the best "non P5" options when Texas and OK bolted.
                        • Boise and SDSU to backfill?
                        • A couple of Texas schools to backfill? None of those are at all attractive. And why would they join given how fragile the PAC is going to be over the summer?
                        • Soldier forward with the 10 that are left? That will be a disaster as they are likely to lose 2-4 more schools in the near future.
                        • Try to absorb the Big12, or at lease parts of it?
                        • Somehow merge with what will be left of the ACC? I can't imagine there will be enough attractive names left to make that viable.
It was interesting that the BIG emphasized that it was USC/UCLA that reached out to it, not the other way around. No doubt every PAC school has now reached out to the BIG. It's every man for himself and very little trust with each other. Yikes.

I can't see how Oregon, Washington, Stanford, and Cal don't end up in the BIG. So that will leave AZ, ASU, uofutah, Colorado, WSU, and OSU as potential Big12 members. The Arizona schools and Colorado are the best options in terms of bringing large markets. What would WSU or OSCU bring? And uofutah? Many uofutah fans see them going to the BIG, so . . . . Maybe elevate CSU?

I suspect if uofutah is left out in the cold when the PAC dust settles, no doubt BYU will push for inclusion against its better interests and despite how badly those bastards treat the Lord's University. Kind of sad to see someone's love disintegrate in front of their very eyes. But the sadness is tempered by the level of dickness with which Wilner has treated BYU over the years.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

BYU should not push for Utah to be included in any conference. Why spend that goodwill on them? Let the chips fall where they may. If the Big12 snatches up some PAC schools I’m sure Utah is near the top of that list, but there’s no reason to advocate for them.

In fact, BYU’s best interest is to push to have them left out. BYU would then control the growing SLC market in terms of power football conferences, which would help in recruiting.
