I don't think he has Kobe or T-Mac level athleticism overall. He doesn't leap like those guys. But I do think his speed for his height is extremely impressive and just about as good as you'll see.

I also definitely see what you mean about the gait, but with the ball and moving at full speed his movements look incredibly fluid to me.

Herky jerky is definitely an overstatement. And I agree that he gets more fluid when he gets into action.

That's one of Simmonds' big things isn't it, just watching how guys walk? He talked about it a lot with Odom, comparing how he moved to KG and Shaq.

Yes, that is one of his pet theories, but I think he has only ever discussed it when talking about bigs.

Oden, not Odom. I think the first time Simmons discussed it was prior to the Oden/KD draft. He said he saw Oden walking alone and felt like he was lumbering just to get down the hall. This will be a lot less stressful if you can just accept that he is not going to be very good this year and take comfort in the fact that just about every analyst who is watching summer league is very impressed b y him. Savor those flashes of greatness. If he doesn't start showing it on the court in year 2 or 3, then start to worry.

I'm not stressed. I'm enjoying it all and looking forward to watching Exum in the FIBA tourney later this summer. I wasn't impressed with him prior to the draft and he hasn't changed my mind. Nothing more.

Ed Davis just signed a 2 year $2 M deal. He's about the same age, shockingly similar production, plays the same position but is bigger than Trevor Booker who the Jazz just signed for $10 M over 2 years. Interesting.

Side note: Craig Bolerjack is the worst basketball play-by-play guy in the league. He is horrendous. Even worse is the local radio stations having him on and asking him questions about player development, personnel moves, etc.

Why do they continue to do this? He knows nothing. He talks in generalities and just runs off at the mouth with upper deck bullet points about "unity" and "cohesion". How can he know so little when he spends so much time doing what he does?

Why would you expect him to know anything? His background is in broadcasting, not basketball. His job is to watch something unfold on the floor and describe it to the audience. He is below-average at his job, when it comes to breaking down a game he lacks the credentials to do so. The local radio hacks are to blame for having him on-air and asking him to do more than describe his surroundings.

Low IQ. But he has a nice voice and looks good on TV.
