I think it has less to do with Corbin's suckitude than I will make it out to be, but that won't stop me from putting plenty of blame there. Whether Hayward is the #1 or #3 option on any team next year, I think the Jazz season will help validate Jalen Rose's claim that Corbin was the worst head coach in the NBA last year. The roster was bad and easy to game plan against. Corbin was worse.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI don't think it has anything to do with Corbin's sucktitude.
I'll have to look up DMC's comments again, but I don't think the credit he was giving to Snyder for his boost in 3pt shooting was just in terms of individual work and honing his shot. But more so about the confidence he gave DMC to shoot it more in games, and helping create the offensive scheme in practice that put Atlanta's players in position to get good shots and having the freedom to take those shots. Those are tasks that it seems Snyder is intent on carrying over into his head coaching responsibilities. He's talked about defense and how he'll be in charge of instilling the basic defensive fundamentals he wants the team to practice, but I'd bet Wells and Lang actually end up taking care of a lot of that while Snyder has his fingerprints all over the offense. I think we'll see an end to Hayward's pull up jumpers from just inside the 3pt line, more Kanter from outside 18 feet, and having Hayward still be a primary offensive focus without having to have the ball in his hands as much as he did last year.I also don't take this as a knock on Corbin. The team's shooting coach is usually an assistant, not the head guy. I mean Horny was the dedicated shooting coach, though I'm not sure who that transitioned to after he went to Phoenix. I assume Snyder held that role in Atlanta, and now as head coach my assumption is his ability to work in that capacity will be limited. You also look at a team like SA and the shooting credit there always goes to Chip Engelland, not Pops. Speaking of which, there was a rumor that Snyder was going to make real push for Engelland, so I was a bit bummed when his bench looked to be mostly status quo Jazz.

DMC said Snyder worked with him a lot on his shot and that he'd never had a coach do that before. Everyone seemed to want to jump on Corbin, but to me that's really an assistant thing. Though I do obviously agree that a head coach can do things to help put players in better positions to shoot well. I'm thinking like the way Spoelstra sat down with Bron and reviewed his shooting %'s on every part of the floor, or the way Pops offense gets players such wide open friggin' looks that they're bound to shoot better. And of course there are other things they can do.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I'm feeling increasingly good about the Hood pick and increasingly meh about the Exum pick. :/ Oh well. At least we have MAD cap space to bring in a dude who doesn't really want to be here!!

So what are everyone's limits on how much to pay a player based on his role?
Number 1 option, unquestioned franchise guy: LeBron
Number 2 option, franchise guy on a good, not great team: Chris Bosh or Scottie Pippen
Number 3 option: Gordon
Number 4 option: Favors?
Number 5 option: Danny Green

Same here. I've watched a lot of Exum the past few days and I'm just not that impressed. I'm encouraged by his ability to play the point full time, however. Regardless of how good a guy is, if you have a 6'6" guy who can legitimately play the point, you should be okay.Originally posted by Commando View PostI'm feeling increasingly good about the Hood pick and increasingly meh about the Exum pick. :/ Oh well.
Would they technically be "bringing in" G-Time? He has been here the last few years, you know.At least we have MAD cap space to bring in a dude who doesn't really want to be here!!
I'm like LeBron James.

The only point of reference I have is what the Jazz were getting paid when we were good, although I'm sure the money is different now.Originally posted by SandYFan View PostSo what are everyone's limits on how much to pay a player based on his role?

The way I sees it, nobody on the Jazz should be getting a max deal yet. Nobody's indispensable, or at least you can't tell if anyone's indispensable, until we win a playoff series (or at least TRY to win period)."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! He's not getting a max deal. Who's gonna offer him that- the Suns?

#1 Franchise Guy: $20 million+
#2 Robin: $16 million
#3 Hayward: $11 million
#4 Favors: $8 million
#5: Danny Green: $3 million
Which adds up to $59 million total for my starting five, and leaves $4 million for my bench (projected 2015 cap is $63 million), which seems low.

Oh, I guessed I missed where you said they would bring in a guy on a max deal. I thought you just mentioned spending a bunch of $$$ for a guy who doesn't want to be here. First name that came to mind was Hayward.Originally posted by Commando View PostHe's not getting a max deal. Who's gonna offer him that- the Suns?

You may be right. The more I think about his skill set, he may be a 6'6" Ronnie Price, which is pretty good thing in my estimation.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostSame here.
