Avery Bradley got 4 yrs, $32 M. Jodie Meeks got 3 yrs, $19 M. Gortat with 5 yrs, $60 M. With cap and tax lines going up, and projecting to go up again next year, getting Hayward at 5 yrs, $60 M seems like it'd be a solid deal.

Jodie Meeks at 3 years 19M is a bargain. 16 ppg on 46% FGs and 40% 3pt at age 26. Those scoring/shooting numbers put him, if not one of, near top 5 SGs in the league.

Certainly a premium on shooters in today's NBA. And he did get to the line a bit more last year. But even after shooting 40% on 5.5 FGA/gm last year, his career 3pt% is just at 37%. Would you pay CJ Miles that after he hit 38% and 39% the last two years in Cleveland? Most everyone seemed surprised at the Meeks deal. I wouldn't consider him overpaid, because the market is going to show some players getting big money. But if Meeks is getting that and Bradley what he got, we shouldn't even sneeze at Hayward getting $12 M per average. He's going to get more than that.

What is the max another team can offer him? 4 yrs is the cap on length, but is there also a difference in the per year increase that he can get from them vs. the Jazz?

My memory might just be off, but I think there have been occurrences of teams just letting their players go get an offer and then deciding to match or not. Utah may have even done that with Millsap and Matthews.

This is my recollection as well. Pretty sure in those instances KOC told them to go out and see what the market would give them, and then come back when they had an offer in hand.

Read the speculation last night that they were prepared to make him a large offer. Guess I'd be surprised by that.

Also, I'd be interested to see G-time's place on that Cleveland team. No way Wiggins spends much time coming off the bench and Waiters may not take very kindly to being sent back to the bench in favor of Hayward. Ultimately, they'd probably have to trade Waiters.

I guess Wiggins is athletic enough and good enough defensively, he could play the 2. If Hayward's shot doesn't improve much from last year, however, that lineup could be pretty bad beyond the arc.
