Didn't get to see the game. Based on the result I'm fearing some type of vindication for Ty.

Not at all. Ty lost that team and by all acounts the players appear to be having a lot more fun. They competed for 3 1/2 quarters, they just don't have enough horsepower at this point. A decent showing against a playoff team under a new head coach.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostDidn't get to see the game. Getting drubbed at home when the other team is on the 2nd night of a b2B is not very impressive. 103.9 offensive efficiency and 111.6 defensive efficiency for the game is not too bueno. Obviously H-town is good, but 111.6 is really, really bad and from what I read the team was as oblivious to the fact that there's a 3pt line out there as ever. It's game 1, obv, but even in the early going I was hoping to see some real improvement on that end. Hopefully they learn and pick up as they go, but losses start to compress on a team and I'm worried this year is going to look a little too much like last year.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostNot at all. A little role reversal going on here...Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostGetting drubbed at home when the other team is on the 2nd night of a b2B is not very impressive. 103.9 offensive efficiency and 111.6 defensive efficiency for the game is not too bueno. Watch the first quarter and you'll see the intent was there. They were chasing them off the 3-pt line and forcing them inside. Snyder mistakenly left Kanter 1-on-1 with Dwight (mistaken in that it was Kanter and not Go Bear, not that they didn't double) and Dwight took advantage but they really seemed to have been coached to force them inside. Why that changed in the final 3 quarters is anyone's guess (fatigure, muscle-memory) but they did none of that last year."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

So just as we thought: Gobert can't catch, Exum can't really do anything, and working through a new offense is tougher when the other team cares about winning.
Burks was solid tonight. I think at one point he was 5-7 for 15 points, but then threw up a few bad shots and missed his last 4 FGs. Took 35 3's and made 40% of them. Just mostly bad, bad defense in the 1st half and too big of a hole to dig out of in the 2nd on a back-to-back. It will be interesting to see how the shot distribution works itself out over the course of the season. Lots of guys getting looks now, but probably not enough for Hayward and Burks and too many for Trey.

So who are we tanking for this year? I have only watched BYU preseason and haven't been paying attention to the hype machine."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
