Last night's loss changed things a bit:

Just what the Jazz need more frontcourt depth.

Hollinger's playoff odds (which tries to project the rest of the season)

Puts the Jazz at 11th in the West and GS at 12. This would put the 2 picks around 9 and 10. That would be nice.

Interesting that Sullenger is projected at 7 now. Would have been top 3 last year. Has he been worse this year? Should be some good players available from 8 to 12. Hopefully this is the year that everyone stays in the draft. (That never happens).

Jeremy Lamb would be the pick at 8 if Utah was selecting there. He'd be a solid add to the team.

And then the 14th pick would be used in a trade to modify the PG position.

He has had a good year. But this draft is much deeper. Davis and Drummond have more "upside". Also Cody Zeller has come on strong along with Harrison Barnes, Moultrie, and and Kidd-Gilchrist.

OK. As for Jazz front-court depth, Ideally the Jazz could move both Millsap and Jefferson, and Harris for a PG and a wing. In such a case, the Jazz would be very fortunate to end up with Sullenger (Maybe Zeller? I don't know) as a replacement and front court backup. But Ideally, they'd get a starter quality guard or wing.

I've got my eyes on Lamb if the GS pick ends up at around 8 or 9. If we were a decent shooting team already I'd love to get MKG. But of course we're not.

The Jazz took a major hit in our rankings last March thanks to the loss of All-Star point guard Deron Williams and coach Jerry Sloan. But after a really solid offseason and an excellent start to the season, our optimism over the Jazz is swelling.

Perhaps the most underrated GM in the league, Kevin O'Connor has done the most with a very tough situation in a less than desirable market and built a strong foundation for the Jazz going forward. He's continued to be proactive in rebuilding this roster in a way that keeps the team winning while adding young players for the future.

The Jazz not only have solid veterans, including Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson, at virtually every position, but they also have intriguing young players being groomed at every spot except point guard. Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter, Gordon Hayward and Alec Burks have enormous potential. The fact that the team is winning while developing them makes us only more encouraged about their long-term future.

O'Connor has also been a master at acquiring lottery picks, and the Jazz are poised to grab another one from the Warriors as long as it's not in the top seven. They do owe the Wolves a pick, however, but only if they make the playoffs. In addition, the team is poised to have some money to work with in the summer of 2013 when Jefferson, Millsap and Raja Bell all come off the books.

And with Tyrone Corbin showing he can have the Jazz playing above expectations, perhaps the drop-off from Jerry Sloan might not be as bad as we once feared. The Jazz are still a few years and a piece or two away from being serious contenders, but all signs are pointing in the right direction.

I think most of us agree with what Ford said there. Even if we would like to see even more development of some players.
I'd also like you to point to some piece of evidence that Greg Miller does not suck. TIA.

Jazz sign SF DeMarre Carroll today, after getting released from Denver. He's only been in the league for two years after being a first round pick, not going to get really any minutes at all unless injury, but probably not a bad move.
