  • [QUOTE=BGRTHNUMEGO;581813]Hayward moved really well on defense as a rookie, and probably most important his effort was right on that end of the court. He just needs to get stronger. QUOTE]

His improvement in lateral "awareness" improved dramatically in the last half of the year which I attribute to not only coaching but as you mentioned an improvement in his overall strength and confidence.

Having learned more about his workout habits recently, I'm bullish on his future. The kid wants to succeed and has the skills to make a career of it.

    • Now there is even some talk about Terrance Jones going back to school. Why would he go back to Kentucky, possibly lose his starting job, and then come out in a far deeper draft in 2012? He could play lousy in every workout and still go in the lottery this year.

Ford updated his Top 100. Tristan Thompson is up to #10, Burks at #11, Tobias Harris is up to #16, and Fredette is at #19. Depending how the pick at 6 goes I think Reggie Jackson of BC is someone Utah might look at picking at #12, or swapping picks with a team below them once they pick Jackson.

Ford's lottery mock has Utah taking Brandon Knight at 6 and Alec Burks at 12. I'd be on board with that. That is with Terrence Jones going at 11, Jimmer 13, and Jordan Hamilton 14.

I agree with this. I'm optimistic for his future.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Reggie Jackson is a guy who has been a complete afterthought in my mind, but in terms of a combination of athleticism, length, offensive production/efficiency in a tough conference and defense, I'm suprised he's not comfortably in the top 10.

I think he'll move up after the combine measurements. Has plenty of experience at PG and has shown he's at least competent there, but because of his span and athleticism (and 42% shooting from 3 last year) he really does fit the combo guard mold well.

Right now, that's my ideal draft, if we are stuck at 6. Its a chance to fill needs. Knight is a real PG who could also play alongside another PG for spurts. Burks plays the position that we are worst at.

If not Burks, Then Jones or Hamilton at 12. I don't want a 6'8" PF, and if Jones can't play Sf, I'm not interested.
But if Biyombo, Valanciunas, or Leonard fell to 12, I'd take them.

Seven right now, but said today that he thinks Biyombo will get to 3 after workouts.

Should it be a concern about Jackson at all that only a small amount of basketball is played in October?

Sometimes you need a great pre-season player...you know, for intimidation purposes.

So if the Jazz get Jackson they will be getting rid of CJ Miles?

I wonder how much having Horny around as full-time coach has helped/will help Hayward? To be honest, I'm not sure there's a better coach for Hayward to be learning from than Horny, for a variety of reasons. I listened to Horny's interview with David James on Talking Sports yesterday and it was mentioned that the first time Horny saw Hayward he reminded him of a younger version of himself. I'm glad they'll be working together.

Some other related things from the interview. Horny said the most impressive thing about Hayward's defense is he doesn't get lost when a guy spins. He says most guys can stay in front when being faced up by their man, but as soon as a spin move is made they're completely lost. He said Hayward, for a kid as green as he is, has an impressive ability to stay with his man when he makes that type of move. The other thing he mentioned is that he's a great shooter and works constantly on his jumpshot.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

David Locke did a breakout of the off-the-curl play from around 15 ft and G-Hay's numbers were brutal through early Feb, but on par w/ Horny's career numbers for the final two months. Small sample but an obvious improvement.

I'm no expert but my eyes told me his follow through and elevation were both much better in the last half of the season than in the first.

Probably ate at the Olive Garden beforehand as well. We can't hold these things against him!
