Cool story. One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

YouTube - We Are BYU - Basketball 2011
I have been told that the Friday before the tournament game BYU was contacted by CBS and told that there was a one minute slot open for a commercial and that BYU could have the slot for $20K. BYU dickered with CBS until they got the slot for slightly under $10K. Then, they went to a donor who supports BYU athletics and asked him if he would like to donate the money to run this commercial which had been made the previous week. He said yes."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

Amen, I am in a real somber mood right now. I am tryng to replace the bad memories of that game like the smallest guy on the floor getting a board with 21 seconds left, KC missing a huge free throw, and the team going ice cold from three. With Jimmers 52 against UNM, the two wins over SDSU, the huge win over Gonzaga, and my memories of the greatest player ever to put on a BYU uniform.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostThanks Team. Hell of a ride. My heart pounding out of my chest and really brought out my love for basketball again.*Banned*

Yup. It's tough because you can deal with losing but you hate to have the season end because you beat yourselves. The thing is one of the elements that made the season so enjoyable was iMO one of the things that ended it (Jimmer and his 30-foot bombs).Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostAmen, I am in a real somber mood right now. It has been one crazy ride. Thanks Jimmer and co for the memories.

I know we've gone the rounds over the past couple of years, but when I say that I'm happy for some BYU fans you are in that group.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostAmen, I am in a real somber mood right now. Tourny success is like nothing else in sports. Blackhawks winning the cup was awesome, but it didn't compare to any of the Utes run. It is always bitter when it is over, but damn those memories are great. Even if BYU has great success and more runs over the years, 10 years from now you will still remember that performance against the Zags vividly. I can still remember individual plays from the Utah-Iowa St game in 1996.
Congrats on the season. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Thanks. Sports really are one of the greatest things in life. I am definitely over the top at times but its hard not to when you are so passionate about your teams.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostI know we've gone the rounds over the past couple of years, but when I say that I'm happy for some BYU fans you are in that group.

unfortunately, there's only one way to leave the ncaa tournament and not be disappointed at all. considering that, i'm in a good place vis a vis this team. i suppose i took the davies loss personally, but to have made this run without him is incredible.
today's been an interesting day. earlier i registered for classes at the u, and watched my last byu sporting event as a student. i don't know where i go from here in terms of fandom, but i do know that memories watching this team will always be special for me. it's been a fun ride.Te Occidere Possunt Sed Te Edere Non Possunt Nefas Est.

it means i'm not sure how to go about reconciling my lifetime of hate for utah and its fans with the fact that i am now an enrolled student there.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostWTF does that even mean?Te Occidere Possunt Sed Te Edere Non Possunt Nefas Est.

In not sure that's what your statement conveyed at all, but I'm glad that's what you meant. It read like you were questioning whether or not you'd continue to be a BYU fan. Sounds like you know exactly where to go in terms of fandom.Originally posted by camleish View Postit means i'm not sure how to go about reconciling my lifetime of hate for utah and its fans with the fact that i am now an enrolled student there. not sure how that wasn't clear.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

You know Katz called Walker's offensive rebound the play of the game. And he's right. If BYU gets that board we have 12 seconds or so for Jimmer to get off a game winner. That was a dagger.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostAmen, I am in a real somber mood right now.
