Lol. I love how you guys are framing the democrats as angels against the GOP Devils. This is more like rival mafia families. One lost territory because they got sidetracked trying to force wokeness on the businesses they were shaking down and forgot to provide them protection.Originally posted by chrisrenrut View Post
This feels a lot like blaming the Russian aggression on Ukraine or NATO. Or blaming the rape on the clothes worn by the victim.
The DNC is not a girl in a short skirt.

Good grief. They aren't a girl in a short skirt but we do have a president who sexually assault women and paled around with Epstein. That's worse than being woke.Originally posted by USUC View Post

No one is saying the democrats are angels, but MAGA is pretty bad. Both sides are not equally awful. And it is increasingly not true. I'm not sure why you don't see that.
Stop blaming the democrats for Trump's bullshit. He is uniquely awful. This reflexive bothsidesism is a bigger problem than the democrats failure to run a more effective campaign and unity.

No one is saying that the Democrats are the sole reason Trump got elected. People are saying the Democrats played a role (debatable how big of a role) in him getting elected. He was a terrible candidate and the Dems ran a worse candidate after allowing a senile candidate run until forced to drop out three months before the election. If you can't admit that the Dems misplayed this badly and stole death from the jaws of victory, then you aren't being honest with yourself.Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

If a coach loses a game because he fails to make half time adjustments, then he bears some blame for the loss regardless of how well the other team played in the second half."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Moli, I don't need to be scolded about my political perspective. My prognostication has been pretty solid around some of these events.
Why is it easier to bitch about the democrats than MAGA? Wokism didn't force the GOP to run some compromised candidate.
People spend a lot more energy focusing on this or that regarding democrats and it comes at the cost of downplaying or ignoring just how awful Trump is. I feel the scorn and blame is disproportionate and even now it's unhelpful to focus on this.
He is historically terrible and some of the democrats unwillingness to part with workism doesn't justify electing Trump.
I worried explicitly about his threat to NATO. Those things are more urgent and should be the focus. They are happening. No need to be gatekeepy about calling Trump a fascist.
We should be talking more about that. We should be talking about how republican elected officials either are or aren't helping the situation.

Reflexive bothsidesism is the reason why democrats lost the race? This just comes off as cope and an excuse to not take culpability for a poor campaign.Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

Trump is awful and he's doing awful things. The Dems took unpopular position and made them the center of their campaign and ran two terrible candidates. Both of these things are true. We dont have to qualify any criticism of the DNC with "but Trump is worse."

You know that's not what I meant. Trying to define democratic shortcomings and equalize them with MAGA bs is a fools errand. Here is an example, if you don't see a difference between what Musk is doing now and what you imaged Soros used to do, I'm not sure you'll get it.Originally posted by USUC View Post

Your criticism of the dems is disproportionate. That's my point. Hillary, Biden, Harris they were all better than Trump, as were all of his GOP primary opponents. The focus should be more on how awful he is and less about how the democrats failed you by not giving the greatest option.
In my opinion it was never reasonable after that J6 to view Trump as a realistic option. And if you find yourself spending far more time kvetching about woke shit and a lot less looking at Trump is doing, I think that is misspent energy and unhelpful.

What the hell? Nobody is "equalizing" anything. We are saying democrats being politically incompetent is ***PARTLY*** to blame for Trump getting elected. Fascinating to me how triggering this is for you. And a few others apparently.Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

How is it that so many intelligent adults can be incapable of even the simplest form of nuance? Wow."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Jeff, you are one the last posters that could be mistaken for a trump person. I respect your perspective. I'm saying, my frustration is that from a lot of posters and from a lot of people in general they direct more criticism toward the democrats over being woke, Biden cognitively declining, then they do criticizing Trump or perhaps more importantly his enablers in the GOP for being a threat to our security and fundamental stability, and I think that's getting it wrong.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

I think there is plenty of bothsidesism that gets flung about because it is a natural instinct but it doesn't apply, because MAGA is just that awful. I'm not sure why you can't understand my perspective. I'm not "triggered." Dude that's a loaded word. I'm trying to honest with my words. You don't have to paint me as irrational because don't agree with me.

I am going to be honest and say I do in fact blame the Dems. I am pissed. They clung to a senile buffoon who could barely formulate sentences and allowed him to run unchallenged. They hid him from the world and the whole fiasco came to a haunting stop when he had no where to hide and had to actually debate Trump. What that did was cause a massive shift of many undecided voters to shift. This caused the whole party to look suspicious as any logical person would conclude they hid him from us and thought we would be stupid enough to not notice. To make it even worse.. They allowed his VP who was completely tainted by this whole fiasco to become the de facto nomination. There is no way in hell she would not know how bad it was and ergo. Tainted as well.. That only further casted doubt towards the Dems. Trump pounced, went full steam ahead. Going on Joe Rogans show and capturing a ton of voters from a demographic he did not do well up to that point. Followed up by VP Vance doing the same. While Harris and her even more woke VP looked inept and closed off as Biden was his whole 4-years
So. Yes. I blame the Dems. They tainted this and the American voters elected Trump.
This is not about Trump and the disgusting person he is but the optics of how everything went down and the massive cloud the Dems had and continue to have as they are tone-deaf to what is in front of them. Hell.. Not a single Dem voted in support of no Males in Womens Sports bill while the majority of America agrees with this!! They are going to die on this hill and are in fact dying.
So yeah. I blame them. Had they force Biden out before the primaries and let the process happen. We are not sitting in this position.

This isn’t joint and several liability, folks. So just because the Woke Dems are at least 1% at fault for Trump’s re-election, the percentage of their role in his being re-elected (5%? 10?) is not a significant enough contributing factor to keep bringing it up.
I realize it makes some people feel good to bring that up. Usually, these are lifelong republicans who dislike Trump, and it makes them feel good to blame the party they have disliked for their entire lives for Trump. But that doesn’t make it a rational discussion point. At some point, you have to blame the millions of middle-ground voters who were stupid enough to think that woke issues like transgender sports and public bathrooms were worrisome enough to vote for Trump. While those are valid concerns, the weight and import they carry pales in comparison to the stuff that actually matters—the economy, foreign policy, etc.
Sure, millions are happy about executive orders which put some reins on the trans issues. But that’s low hanging fruit. Trump could issue an executive order that all pedophiles are to be given life in prison without parole, and that would probably be his most popular order. That something is extremely popular doesn’t mean it’s salient or representative of difficult governing. This is putting chocolate milk in the drinking fountains. Everybody loves it. Meanwhile, someone is dumping gasoline around the school and getting ready to light a match. But we got some chocolate milk, so that’s nice.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
