The current iteration of the GOP has no concept of slippery slopes or tit for tat.

Is it a really a metaphor when Trump is very clearly using the 'WMD' designation to justify military action?

What is a metaphorical weapon of mass destruction? Or is it a weapon of metaphorical mass destruction? A weapon of mass metaphorical destruction?

              Yeah. It's literal.

So we're going to attack another country based on a metaphorical, not a factual reason. How about some literal, not metaphorical evidence that fentanyl even comes through Venezuela?

                  • I tend to think all these arm-chair QB’s acting like they know better is interesting when the woman who won the Nobel Peace Prize is fully supportive of action taken against Maduro to liberate Venezuela.

I mean, any member of the opposition in a authoritarian state would be supportive of action to liberate their countries. But that doesn't mean it would be legal, feasible, or in our country's best geopolitical interest.

Great. The right way to go about this is to get congress to declare war and authorize hostile actions and invasion.

I don’t think congress will. 1/3 of the Senate and all of the House is already too worried about midterms. They won’t be able to seek invading a foreign country on flimsy excuses that do nothing to cover the naked lust for oil this administration has.

                          • Let's review.

Exhibit A: The most catastrophic foreign policy failure of at least the last 50 years, the Iraqi war, was still approved by Congress.

Exhibit B: This raving madman-level pronouncement will lead us to war, and Congress will just roll over:

                            • Now is the time to push back against unnecessary war and war mongering not later, after it's done its damage. This is madness and worse than Iraq.

                              • I am confused about what Oil, Land, and other Assets the Venezuelans have stolen from us. Perhaps "dabrockster" can illuminate us on that point.
