I think these guys get drunk on the simple feedback loop of populism.

I'm telling you, he is a pure grifter angling for a spot on Trump's card. He really isn't particularly informed or politically savvy, but he is very bright and confident. He strikes as rudderless and unprincipled.

The best candidate to win the general election is one nobody either loves or hates. That was Biden in 2020. Pence is now up past 4%. Ramaswamy is now up to 9%, DeSantis is at 15%. Three others are all around 3%. Hutchinson is done. When forced to actually chose the religious right could rally around Pence and the pragmatic voters would then follow suit and abandon Vivek and Ron. That could put Pence at 30+%. Trumps true, diehard base is only 15 - 20%. His current 50% lead is vulnerable.

I think your analysis is flawed right out of the gate with the presumption that there's a religious right that is looking for anyone else besides Trump. The vast majority of them aren't even holding their noses anymore while supporting him.

Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

The irrational 15 - 20% die hard Trumpers aren't necessarily religious as much as they are elderly, angry and irrational: that describes your mother and my mother (well, my mother to the T at least). Trump only really secured the religious right vote because Pence was on the ticket. Pence was there to keep him in check which he ultimately did by upholding the constitution.

Who would be Trump's running mate this time around—who in their right mind will play the role of Pence seeing what has happened? No one right now is willing to ask that question because everyone in the Republican leadership is harbouring the hope Trump can't run because of his legal troubles.

I think the symbol you're looking for is !=

I'm proud to report that neither of my parents have ever liked Trump.

Nope on both of your alternatives. The first requires a symbol not found on standard US keyboards. The second is ambiguous.

Crazy how much love Vivek is getting for simply being willing to spew vitriol at the left. I've seen a handful of people (all 30-something millennials, FWIW) on my social media timeline sharing about how he's a "guy who gets it" and how he "makes so much sense". That analysis of him makes me laugh, as he strikes me as a smart guy who does not get it and who makes very little sense. BTW, based upon their posting history for the past 6 years, these are people who almost certainly thought Trump was a guy who gets it and makes so much sense.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

I think you need to check your math. The base for trump is much closer to 35-40% of the Republican voters, not 15-20% that you said.

I don't think there are enough religious voters who don't like trump to give pence a path. He might do ok in Iowa, but he'll drop like a rock in NH.

The more I think about him, the more I think he is a classic narcissist. Even at Harvard, a place that is filled with some of the smartest people in the world, he felt like he was the smartest guy in the room.
