There's obviously a culture war. Moderates on both sides are starting to wake up to it. The moderates are also waking up to what a loud portion of the trans community wants to be able to do to your kids. Sex changes and unnecessary hormone therapy for minors = child mutilation. Most people think letting men play on women's sports teams is also looney tunes.

I'd wager a majority on here agree with me even if they don't want to wade into the debate.

I am on the record here for outlawing hormone therapy and sex change surgery for minors, except for extremely rare circumstances.

Large majority of Americans support some sort of ban of biological males competing in women sports. And the numbers supporting such a ban are growing, not shrinking.

Let the record state that I know a trans person. He (or I guess she now) was a priest when I was in the bishopric. It’s actually a very sad story but one I won’t tell here. Let’s just say he isn’t fully mentally there and was preyed on by certain individuals in that community.

I know another trans person that was the first assistant to the bishop. He chased his name to a girls name but he doesn’t really dress like a woman anymore. I think he’s now more of a “they” as he never took the hormones and dates women. His isn’t a sad story as he’s very happy and normal.

those are only the ones that I’m close to but I have a couple dozen more I know through my kids or work or other places.

Yes, that was my assumption and it is usually correct. It's not a pervasive issue or large population. You and Moli are outliers for sure. Do you not see trans people becoming a political punching bag for the right? These bills to protect kids, even if we assume they do that, seem less about that and more persecutory.
I don't see a rising tide of influence from the queer community preparing to destroy children's future.

Maybe I’m the exception, but there are four trans in my circle of life. Our high up the chain VP, transitions to female and then for medical reasons had to transition back. Another coworker took several months off to go to rehab and in rehab it was determined that his coping with alcohol was because he wanted to be a woman, so he became one. She was recently laid off though.
Our neighbors who we are pretty good friends with have a daughter who now goes by a male name. And then my high school son’s former good friend now identifies as female. I hope the reason they are no longer friends is not directly related to her transition. I’m guessing it had to do with their diverging interests. That’s my hope anyways.

My assumption that most feel don't know a trans person usually seems to be true when I ask the question to others.

I don't know how you can say "clearly wrong." You think most people feel like they know a trans person?
