I agree with the general message here (don't take UT too seriously) but I don't think the "TedBot" label is accurate. Ted is smarter and more successful than most folks here. He is a shit-poster, not a bot. Just imagine him laughing as he writes each post and respond accordingly. Half our posters here seem to take everything way too seriously.

It's a problem. If this happens the amount of legal action will be stunning. There are a bunch of states that are past the deadline.

Not true. There is not an official nominee until the convention. Every state grants a slot for the two major parties They are not subject to the more restrictive rules in most states for independents or third parties. They need the name of the person nominated by a certain date but only Ohio had a date that preceeded the convention so they had to change it last week or risk having a ballot without Biden on it. All the other states deadlines fall after the convention. Lawsuits, I suppose those get filed anyway by whoever would want to be disruptive but I don't see how legally you force someone to run when they choose to drop out.

Biden isn’t dropping out voluntarily and hand picking a nominee in his place would be a certain loss for the Dems. It wouldn’t go over well at all with many, especially if they pick a white male over Kamala.

The Democratic Party has made their bed. They changed the primary order just so Biden wouldn’t have the same troubles he had in 2020 and then didn’t allow for an open primary.

Good heavens. What part of my post suggested that people shouldn't push back and give him grief from time to time? I enjoy teasing him and mocking his not-so-implicitly pro-Putin and pro-trump takes. Believe me, he doesn't ever get under my skin.

You know another thing about Uncle Ted? He takes a ton of angry pushback here and with only very rare exceptions does he let it bother him. We should all have such thick skin.

TedBot’s real-life success has absolutely zero relevance to the persona he embodies here. So that’s a nice straw man. You are the king of pointing out straw men, so I suspect you will just stipulate to that and acknowledge it was a silly point to have raised.

As for your other point, the difference between a shit-poster and a bot is a difference of degree and not kind. Your relationship with TedBot outside of CS doesn’t change the fact that the rest of us perceive how he regurgitates stuff without even thinking about it. He is the CS version of that crazy Facebook friend (probably an uncle, amirite?) who follows tons of right wing accounts and just likes/shares pretty much everything those accounts post, to the point you have to just ignore them so they don’t fill your feed with drivel. Just because that uncle is a nice guy IRL doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have a little self-awareness.

The funniest part by far is how defensive people are about. Each time I drop the word I get a lengthy reply with medical jargon and an admonition that I am not a medical professional. Haha.

You can quibble all you want about the most precise medical diagnosis, but he is so far gone that this is a disaster. I will never forgive him or the democrats for letting this happen.
