I've been playing a lot lately b/c I've been on vacation in Utah. Played mostly at Hobble Creek, and then once in Cedar City. Loved playing with all the endangered Utah prairie dogs on that course. Despite playing only once in a blue moon when I'm at home, I didn't shoot too badly. Shot in the 70s every round at Hobble Creek, and then only played 9 in Cedar City and shot 37, including three birdies and a triple.
I also bought myself a new driver while in Utah -- a new Titleist, replacing my 1996 vintage Big Bertha warbird. But I'm still playing with my Ping Eye 2s. Those clubs are almost 20 years old.
I love golf. I took my little boys with me for several rounds, and they just enjoyed riding on the cart and finding golf balls in the woods. They swung the club a few times, but didn't have too much interest. I'm just trying to get the enjoyment of being on a golf course in their bones, and then hopefully the love for the game will come later.

There's something about Hobble. I just love the place. Eye 2's (+) are still great clubs, if the grips are new, they're as good as aything thing. Since I'm in Boise for 3 days, my sons are trying to get me to go to Utah so we can play together. Too bad I'm on a tight schedule.Originally posted by Levin View PostI've been playing a lot lately b/c I've been on vacation in Utah. Played mostly at Hobble Creek, and then once in Cedar City. I sold mine for about $200 bucks and I'm still sad about it. I had 1-SW and the 1 iron was actually usable. I started hooking the hell out of everything and blamed the clubs, it was me.Originally posted by clackamascoug View PostEye 2's (+) are still great clubs, if the grips are new, they're as good as aything thing.

i've always had trouble keeping the ball straight. i alternate between a low duck hook and a high, severe slice. but, this summer i've noticed that if i put the ball very far forward, i'm talking a bit outside my left foot, i hit a slight draw with as much length as i've ever had. is that ball position completely bizarre? should i keep doing it?Te Occidere Possunt Sed Te Edere Non Possunt Nefas Est.

Hopefully tonight. I really like how they set up and I'm sure they'll hit great. I leave for Utah tomorrow night and have about 7-8 rounds of golf planned for next week.

Whoa, and the G20 driver/fairway metal combo as well. That's $1,200 worth of clubs, there, eh?
FTR, I hit the G20 the other day on falafel's recommendation, and that is one nice-feeling driver. Love the way it sets up. If I can't get my r11 issues sorted out soon (and I think I may have found my problem, but i'll know more in a few days) I think I may be heading Ping's direction.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

If I do say so myself, those i20's look so sweet. I can tell you're gonna like 'em. BTW... I really like the U wedge, as it's money from 95-105. The 8 is my favorite, slight right to left flite, and a side spin action.

I can't remember my last 90+ score. No birdies... the rest is just a blur. Probably only hit a dozen shots all day that I was happy with. Played with a retired doctor today as my best ball partner, and he said on the third hole, your back must be hurting, you're walking crooked. My back wasn't 100% today, and it slowed down my driving. My normal draw move through the ball became an actual slice move - a slice - not even a fade. After the 8 on the second hole, I was hurting, gave up the ghost, and just tried to make birdies for the team effort, but with the Doc sucking too, we ended up contributing to the pot, rather than claiming it. I saw places on the course today I hadn't seen since I was a teenager. I hope today was an aberration, and not a glimpse into my aging future. Putting sucked too, making only made one putt longer than 10 feet.
Shot of the Day: Playing partner Ed, holes out from 165 on the No. 1 handicap hole. The eagle is worth $30 bucks to him. My shot of the day was a 320 yard drive that hit hard pan and rolled out leaving a 65 yard 56* to the elevated green.Last edited by clackamascoug; 08-23-2012, 09:13 PM.

Get that out of your mind. It is an aboration.
I am playing better. Last 3 scores 87, 87, 83. I am pleased after the long slump. I don't know if I mentioned I have started chipping one armed. It has eliminated the triples.
I have put a little loop in the swing at the top. Hitting the ball further and straighter, especially the driver.
