  • It was fun for sure. That's the most golf I have ever played in a weeks time.

    • I also picked up some new golf shoes. I got these for 20% off at the Crocs outlet in Park City. They are super comfy.

      • I'm teeing it up with Husky tomorrow at 11:30 at his club. I'm thinking about showing up in a button down collar dress shirt, smallish but acceptable shorts, and black mid calf socks. Just enough to look a bit odd, but not enough for anyone to say anything. Of course I'd have a back up uniform, but it would be really funny to be introduced to his friends looking like a Ute fan.

I've golfed at his club. Dress like that and you'll fit right in. Not to disappoint you, but that course is a major step down from your home course.

Today wasn't about the golf, it was about inviting an old man into your realm, and not caring that his A game was in his back pocket. Today was a good day. Thanks. It was fun.

I think you are being far to kind, but thank you for the compliment. Today was a gorgeous Pacific Northwest day, nobody played great but we all hit enough good balls to bring us back for more. I agree today was a lot of fun, hopefully we get to play again before the darkness of rainy winter comes.

              • Golf Report Saturday Sept 16, 2012

                44+46=90

At least two snowmen - and a couple of triples. Who knows. That's the score I was told I had at the end.

Back issues continue to slow me down. Or maybe I'm getting older. One thing is for sure... I'm going to quit playing new golf balls. It's not the money necessarily, it's losing a brand new ProV1x on the very first hole you pull it out. It feels so wrong.

                • I am glad I feel like participating in this thread again. My golf game got beyond demoralizing. Shooting a 110 and 111 and that is only because we pick up after we are at a triple bogey. If we hand't it could have easily been in the 120's.

UGA handicap went from a 10 to a 17 and that is only because they count a tournament score of 79 back in 2011 and the one 79 I happen to shoot this year.

Finally broke down and got a lesson from a very pleasant gal who teaches at the club. Several guys said she was a great teacher. She did play golf for BYU.

I knew my swing had gotten too inside, but I fell in love with the nice draw I could hit. Well that turned into smother hooks, high fades and the finally the shanks. I had gotten over the shanks by the time I got the lessen.

She got me taking the club outside. It felt like I was not only going outside but taking it 90 degrees to the right. I started shanking again on the range and I gave her a funny look.

She said, be patient hit a few more. She moved me further from the ball and I felt like I was reaching. She had me close my shoulder. All of a sudden after about 30 minutes I was hitting it pure. I couldn't wait to play.

Next round 97. I knew what the problem was. The set up was uncomfortable and so was the swing. As I stood there and tried to get in postion I became impatient and just swang. Not good. When I got over it and got in position, I hit it good.

93 next round and more comfort. Last Friday more comfort and 85. Saturday I shot 80 and that was because I couldn't get up and down on 3 different chips just of the green in the fringe.

I am a happy camper and looking forward to playing golf again instead of just going out because I had nothing better to do.

I played with the local pro this summer and he was taking it way outside and said it had helped his game. Also I've noticed several tour pros take it out to begin with. I'm glad your game is getting better.

Thanks. You have always been kind to me. Some people on this board have it in for old people.

I feel your pain when the game goes bad. I've been fighting my chipping problems for about ten years and it's almost driven me away from the game. No wrist, load the hands early, cross handed, the Alien, not looking at the ball, choking down on the club, open stance, closed stance, feet together, wide stance, still upper body, rotate the body, I've tried it all but I think I've finally found something that helps. I lift the heel of the club just barely off the ground and chip more off the toe. I'm making better contact and actually getting it up and down more often.

                        • I've gotten to play a few times in the last couple of weeks after not being able to play almost all of August.

I haven't been able to get under 95, but have managed to save some rounds that in the past would have ended up in the 110+ range. My last few are 97, 95, 101 (with Clack), 99, 100, 98.

I am hitting the ball pretty well from tee to green, I can't chip or putt worth a poop.

                          • Today was the start of the 3 day play for the club championship. Of course it is gross.

At the same time they run the club net championship.

                            I threw down a 83 today for a net 65 and missed 4 putts under 4 feet.

That gives me a 4 shot lead after the first day.

On a side note I have traced the start of my downslide back to the round of golf I played with Donuthole in Vegas a few years ago. I started swinging harder and harder to try and hit it as far as that skinny bugger.

Thanks, I would like to build a lead that discourages everyone else and they withdraw. Then I could play with my regular group tomorrow.
