Gave him a rangefinder last year, which he uses all the time, especially on the driving range where you would think he wouldn't need one, but he complains that he doesn't know the precise distance of his drive because the range signs are not accurate.

(As soon as the snow flies, I'm going to drag him out to one of my photo-taking safaris cause those rangefinders are super accurate at determining depth of field for my camera. I just havent been successful at getting him to go with me this summer, because if the weather is good enough to take pictures, it's good enough to golf in.)

I will check into this, or maybe an assortment of really good branded balls. I have to go to golf galaxy anyway, to buy some practice turf material as I am dressing up as the Holy War this Halloween.

Are you dressing up as a practice green?

I'm jealous. It's a perfect day here in Oregon, and I've got too much to do. Not many of these days left before the gray days of winter.

        I predict you'll birdie 18 for a 78.

Sweet, if I do I could win a fortune today. Should be a huge group and in the group I am a 15.

If it brings you any solace it isn't golf weather in Eugene.

I got a bad feeling about this. 71 you've got to focus just on your next shot. Put CUF, loose woman, those shanks you're trying to overcome, the guilt of being a 15, BKP, the honor code and everything else on hold and just focus.

If you shoot a 78 I guarantee BYU wins on Saturday.

LOL, LOL all of you. Great advice. I am leaving now so I can practice my chipping for an hour before gametime.

Uncanny. I come into 18 needing a par (4) to shoot 79. I am thinking how wild is this. A birdie an I shoot 78. Knocked in on in two and have a 20 ft. putt. I step and miss it.

However, it has been so long since I shot in the 70's, I still am pretty happy. Putted all the chippable shots and took bogies instead of triples.

I don't know if you guys have ever checked out www.knetgolf.com but they sell recycled and refinished golf balls for pretty cheap. Mint condition (probably teed up and sliced into the woods once) Pro V1 392s go for $22/doz. Anyway, they carry virtually every ball out there. The grade their recycled balls and sell refinished balls as new. Worth checking out. Also, through the weekend they're having a fall sale. Enter promo code FALL25 and get an additional 25% off your order. Purchases over $79 get free shipping. Otherwise it's $5.99/1 item, $7.99/2 items, $9.99/3 items or more.

                          I am glad I didn't think about that on 18. If I had of, I would have 3 putted for a 80.

Next week I am playing in a 4 man scramble tournament. Today 3 members of our team played a round together. Front 9 I finished bogey, bogey, double for a 43. Still thinking I have a chance to shoot a decent score in the 80's, I make the turn and make par on a long par 4. Then the meltdown began. Lost ball off the tee and a three putt. Quad. Next hole. Lost ball off the tee and a three putt. Quad. Next hole I am just a few feet off the fairway in the rough on the left. I have a small tree I need to get up and over about 20 yards in front of me. The green is also protected by a pond. I go for it and spray it to the right where the pond is the widest and I get wet. So I tin cup it and grab another ball and drop right where I am at. Plunk. I suck up my pride and head to the ball drop area and take a triple. Finished with a fifty freaking five for a 98.

                                We can all relate.

Non golfers don't understand that golf takes endurance. Mental and Physical. It's also a game of emotion. Positive and Negative events play with your mind big time.

I have a little inside game I play, where after a DB or worse, I try my hardest to scramble back for a par on the next hole. I usually do pretty good, but my record of rounds posted here will show a huge propensity to melt down and not care anymore by hole 16.
