I played Dragon Ridge (an "exclusive" private course that has pretty much opened up to the public to stay afloat--there seem to be a lot of those lately) on President's day. After several great range sessions and a few good rounds with my driver since November, the me and the r11 are in "off again" status. I was spraying the ball right and couldn't seem to fix it no matter what I tried. Irons, short game, and putting were all fine, with the exception of a blow up triple bogey on a par 4, after driving to within 60 yards of the green. One of only two good drives all day (both of which came with by old r7 quad), and I managed to leave the iron shot short, chip over the green into some nasty rough, chip back over the green, flub out of the rough onto the edge of the green and two putt.

I went birdie, par, bogey, par, par to finish, so that felt pretty good.

Love that course. Played it a couple of times with Boyd Summerhays. He played it much better than I did. Dang I miss when he was on the tour. He is one great guy and if he had made it he would have had tons of endorsements. Really a charasmatic guy. I am happy for Danny who is also a great guy.

5th round of the year and I started to find the game a little bit. I was finally making solid contact. The course was starting to dry up and my time spent practicing chipping is paying off. Rough putting today, and I put 2 in the water on my nemesis 14. That kept me from flirting with 90, happy with a 95.

I've gotta card a score in the 80s this summer.

Is 14 the par 3 over the water? I remember bailing long on a par 3 on the back 9, but I can't remember if it had water in front or just a ditch and bushes. 18 was the water hole on the back that ate my bro up.

i remember 16 as a par 3 without much treachery. I must be thinking of 12 or 13. I can't remember 14 for the life of me.

Except that it's 200 yards... over a creek at 150, with water on the right.

The 12th is a par three with water... it's kind of a nice hole actually.

DT and I are teammates on our local Men's Club Team Play team. Our team has advanced out of qualifying and we have made the playoffs. If you are interested, here is the bracket:

We are in the upper right hand corner. Riverlakes.

We are 3-1 in competition. There are a total of 48 points available at the event. A maximum of 6 is available in each grouping. First Team to 25 points wins.

It is matchplay versus your opponent and then a team best ball going at the same time. 2 points for winning your match, and 2 points to the team for the best ball.

In our 3 wins we have gone 18-0 in points. In our 1 loss we are 0-6 on points.

One of the more enjoyable things that I have done.

Also...we are playing a qualifier next Friday for the SCGA Net Championship. They are having multiple qualifiers in March. 990 total slots available. They take the top 180 (60 in each flight. We are both in the C flight I believe), so I am pretty hopeful that it goes well.

Loving me some competition.

Shot an 84 today at Tuscany. Beautiful course with some really fun holes. Admittedly, it was not long (6600 yards from the tees we played) and we probably should have been playing the tips (6900). But with the humid, wet conditions it definitely played much longer than it normally would. After today I'm in "on again" relationship status with my r11. Lots of decent drives in the fairway or first cut, and a couple of absolute bombs. I got yippy with my wedges over the last 4 holes, but made up for it by 1-putting 4 holes in a row, including one 60-foot putt from the fringe (so technically a no-putt) with about 10 feet of left-to-right break.

Beautiful day here in Oregon. I had the choice of golfing or going to my favorite relative's 1st birthday party. I got him a #3 sized soccer ball.

Played Chambers Bay in not the nicest conditions yesterday. I didn't score well, but I'm starting to remember how to make decent contact.
