I went down to St George with my three boys last weekend and we played 9 holes together on Saturday and Sunday. One of my most enjoyable times together with them ever. Red rocks, green grass, blue sky. Coming from two feet of snow on the ground and freezing cold to be out in short sleeves with the sun shining, watching your little boy run across the grass chasing his golf ball. Plus I golfed pretty well. Life does not get much sweeter.

What course(s) did you play? As someone who grew up in St. George, the January/February golf conditions you describe are very very nostalgic for me. The climate is similar here in LV, and I'm certainly able to golf all winter, but there is something about winter golf in St. George that just makes me feel at home.

I looked for basically the cheapest and least crowded courses, so we could have our own space. We golfed Dixie Hills and St George Club courses.

I really like Dixie Red Hills. Cheap, and plenty of sweet red rock vistas. My buddy and I used to give ourselves a free ball on the par 5 to try to cut the corner over the mountain. Our rule was you could play it if it was in the fairway. I think I was only successful once or twice.

St. George Golf Club makes me sad. That was one of the nicest courses in town back in the early 90s. One of my best friends lived off hole #4, and we used to sneak on and play the loop of 4, 5, 6, and 7 (all out of the view of the clubhouse) 4-5 x a week during the summer. But I played there with my dad and brother a couple years ago and was shocked at the terrible condition it was in. It was seriously depressing. It's a decent track, but the condition was just awful.

Two of the best trips I have made were with my boys in December and in January.

We went to Mesquite and played 4 days in December and then went to Palm Springs and played 3 days in January. I managed to keep each trip under $1,000. I give their sisters an equal amount it costs for each boy to be fair, but it is easily some of the best money I have spent.

My boys are so busy with their young families that I don't get to talk or do much with them. To just be able to get out and shoot the bull is something I am going to do more often.

He likes to go out, but then he gets frustrated quickly, and I'm worried he's going to give up on it. My 10 yo has a better swing than I'll ever have. My 6 yo smacks it straight as an arrow no matter how off balance he is. Golf is a lot more fun when you're hitting good shots.

I've said it here a hundred times, my favorite thing in the world is to golf with my sons. Only happens a couple of times a year, but those days are the best for me.

Remember I bought those PING G20's late September... now they have G25's out. (for the same price)

So in celebration of a deal we closed one of my workmates/friends and I went and played 9 in a light misty rain yesterday afternoon.

I started very slow, it was as if I had forgotten how to hold or swing a club, it started to feel normal by about the 3rd hole. It probably doesn't help me in a quest to be a good golfer to take 4 months off.

It's been really nice all week, and the clouds look like springtime clouds. We've got a good 8 months ahead of us!

All of that is for naught if the head moves off the pivot point. If I made that planer, I would have a helmet attached where you wouldn't be able to move your head. Also, is the plane adjustable? I think Matt Kucher would have a hard time swinging that upright.

Because you have a wife and 5 kids. You need your space so when you come home, you're prepared to be more involved with them. Your doing it to become a better Dad.
