So many haters live in a bubble that doesn’t allow them to see things objectively. It’s eye opening how, even when the church is praised by and independent third party like the HBCU for the work they are doing that the haters immediately think the award was purchased with tithing money or is otherwise not merited.

Hey haters, the church does a ton of good in the world and has made huge strides in correcting prior mistakes.

If the Church did shop for the award, I think I admire it even more. In an age of rising white, Christian nationalism it's nice to see the Church associate itself with three people who were not white, were not all Christian and were from diverse cultures. I like the course RMN has charted for the Church, and I hope the Church continues on that course in the future. Kudos to him.

Oh come on, this is easy. Why did the church hoard the water rights in the first place? Just like the Pro(fi)t to go lead his sheeple into a literal desert and then claim rights to the water!! No wonder they try to keep everything a secret-- the more you find out the more it STINKS!!!!

The GSL has run a water deficit of about 1.2 million acre-feet in recent years.

The donation is ~20,000 acre feet, so ~1/60 of the annual deficit. That's a pretty good chunk to help.

I see no problem with this based on what he has done.

While he rightfully was commended for this work, I don't see a similar award for his work with the LGBTQ community.

Agreed it has made huge strides in race relations. Other places it is still falling significantly short. It deserves credit, but you can't ignore the problems still exist.

I already (rightfully) criticized you on your terrible take on 80s music tonight, so I will go ahead and double down.

This reminds me of some of the takes I saw on Twitter after the Oscars (which I didn't watch), where there were evidently heartwarming interactions between Ke Huy Quan and Harrison Ford, and KHQ and Steven Spielberg.

Some Twitterites saw this, and their reaction was "Hey Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg! You don't deserve to have these moments because you should have been helping him get better roles all these years!"

And I thought "How sad is it that some people go through their lives seeing good and heartwarming things, and their only reaction is 'Here is how it should have been better'"

So, my completely unsolicited and unwelcome advice to you is the same. Continue to advocate for justice and good outcomes. But when you see something good happen, rejoice in it and be happy, rather than saying "This is how it could have been better"

Also, the Talking Heads are like 3 times as good as any of those lame 90s bands.

Pretty much. That is water that will be kept in streams and delivered to the lake.

Lame. I was imagining a bunch of volunteers in yellow vests dumping truckloads of those big water cooler type jugs into the GSL. Would have been a cool photo app.
