  • I've seen several movies the last week:

    1. The Fault in our Stars. I loved this movie. I can get a little weepy, but didn't cry during this one. Notwithstanding, the story and characters were interesting. My only complaint is that it could have been 20 minutes shorter without losing quality content.

    2. Malificent. Fell asleep at a late-night, drive-in double feature. Neither my kids or wife liked it. I enjoyed the sleep.

    3. How to Train a Dragon 2. This was the first of the double feature. I can't tell you much about the second half of the movie, but the first 45 minutes were okay for a kids flick. Again, the sleep was fantastic.

    4. 22 Jump Street. A friend whose humor I trust called this "the most hilarious movie [she's] seen in years." Bullshit. It was terrible in every sense of the word. I love base humo (LOL'd several times during Grown Ups 2), but this was nearly unwatchable.

    • Malificent was terrible. My wife and daughter simulatneously said "dumb" when we left the theater.

      • The Fault in our Stars.

Watched it last night with the family. Loved it.

Kids facing death through cancer is a tough topic. Caused me to think quite a bit. Highly recommend for everyone.

I am looking forward to "If I Stay" also.

I hope you quickly said "jinx!" then reveled in the power of them not being able to speak until you relented and spoke their name.

          • A couple on Amazon Prime:

"Girl Most Likely" with Kristen Wiig, Annette Benning, and Matt Dillon - Kind of a "finding herself" flick that is not really intended as a comedy in spite of Wiig's starring role. I thought it was OK, the Mrs. was pretty bored with it.

"Nestling" - slow, had a hard time identifying with the characters in most aspects, put the Mrs. to sleep (she's the Moliere of our household)

It's been the best week of my life.

              • Transfomers: Age of Extinction

Biggest piece of crap I have seen in quite some time. In fact...it made Pacific Rim look pretty decent.

And it was a 2.5 hour piece of shit.

And I love the Transformer movies.

I watched the first two Transformer movies and had the same reaction. sjbh.

                    • "Man of Steel" on Netflix. A cast of Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner and this is the best they could come with. Just having the four of them sit around for two hours talking about their experiences in the movie industry would have been more interesting than this movie.

I've tried to watch that movie 3 times and haven't made it through more than 30 minutes before falling asleep.

                        Recent movies I've seen:

Grand Budapest Hotel: Fun movie with a great story impeccably told. Not the most exciting or best done but well worth the time to watch. Fiennes is fantastic and there are plenty of LOL moments.

Die Hard: Yes, I've never seen this until now. I'm sure it was cooler back in the day but it was still fun to watch. Nice to see a younger Bruce Willis again. I can see why this one is a Xmas classic.

Behind Enemy Lines: I rewatched this one. I've seen it probably 4 times. I have no idea why I like this film, but I do. Maybe it's because it has all the stereotypes of a classic rebel soldier film (renegade soldier's hubris gets him into trouble and the enemy hitman tracks him down....America eventually saves him and his renegade mission wasn't a lost cause because he got evidence against the enemy). Anyway, it's a lame movie that for some reason I like to watch.

American Hustle: Very good film. Highly recommend, however I'm not a fan of Amy Adams. I do love Bradley Cooper though and he's as good in this as he is in Silver Linings Playbook.

Liar Liar: Shoot me....why I could not fall asleep during this one???

I think that just means you were tired.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I made it through about 20 minutes of the first one and learned my lesson. Fool me once!

I did finally see the new X-Men: Time Fixers and liked it. I was most surprised to learn that JFK was a mutant. :mindblown:
