This weekend we saw The Way, Way Back and enjoyed it quite a bit. Great cast and a solid coming-of-age story.
Also, the midnight movie at the Tower Theatre this weekend was The Terminator, so I had to go see that too because it's awesome:

ET should be watched with kids. IMO, the film doesn't age very well for adults only but it's a timeless movie when children are part of the experience. While I agree with the latter part of your statement, I must respectfully disagree with the first part. I think E.T. has aged wonderfully. It is sentimental, but that sentimentality is earned and it has a bittersweetness to it (mainly regarding the kids' absent father and their struggling mother) that was completely lost on me until I watched it as an adult. Good point. It could just be personal. For some reason, I can only enjoy watching ET (and the original Star Wars triology) with kids. On the other hand, I continue to enjoy Raiders of the Lost Ark (and The Last Crusade).
