Agree about the book to film comparisions to Blackhawk Down. Sorry to hear about Lone Survivor as I was thinking about reading the book before seeing the movie but already know most of the detail of the story. Reminds me of We Were Soldiers Once and Young. Really liked the book after already knowing much of the story from other books. Liked most of the movie until the Hollywood ending - the real battle/true story was exciting enough. If anything, the film didn't capture how desperate the fighting got and how close they were to being overrun. But nope, Hollywood had to have 'ol Mel leading the charge up the mountain top.“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”

Jurassic Park was also a horrible book to movie comparison. Haven't watched it since I saw it opening day in theaters."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is underrated in your rankings, IMHO. Much better than Moonrise Kingdom.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostRoyal Tenenbaums (re-watch)
Bottle Rocket (re-watch)
The Darjeeling Limited (first time)
Now that I have watched the entire set of Wes Anderson films, I am ready to rank them.
1) The Fantastic Mr. Fox
2) The Grand Budapest Hotel
3) Moonrise Kingdom
4) The Royal Tenenbaums
5) The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
6) Rushmore
7) The Darjeeling Limited
8) Bottle Rocket
That being said, I really enjoyed Bottle Rocket. They are all good.

Tough to rank as there is not a big variation.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostThe Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is underrated in your rankings, IMHO. Much better than Moonrise Kingdom.
I grew up watching Jacques Cousteau as a kid, so that made The Life Aquatic even more enjoyable."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

This and Budapest are the ones I haven't seen yet. Of those I've seen, Darjeeling would get the bottom spot. Not sure what I'd put at the top. Possibly Tenenbaums.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostSo Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I just watched Budapest with my wife a few weeks ago. It's my first Wes Anderson movie and I have a big list to view now.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I'd be pretty close to this but I'd have RT higher and Mr. Fox was great but it's hard to rank that along with the rest.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostRoyal Tenenbaums (re-watch)

I loved Mr. Fox. And it holds up to repeated viewings. But yeah, it is quite a bit different from his other films.Originally posted by jay santos View PostI'd be pretty close to this but I'd have RT higher and Mr. Fox was great but it's hard to rank that along with the rest."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Glad to see I'm not the only one that doesn't think Rushmore is his best film. Haven't seen them all, but Rushmore is probably my least favorite.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostRoyal Tenenbaums (re-watch)

My bottom 4 are interchangeable. I liked them all though.Originally posted by Dwight Schr-ute View PostI need to give Life Aquatic another shot. Despite being an aquatic biologist, it didn't really hold my interest. It could have just been a bad night for a film. Bottle Rocket would be much higher on my list though.
Wes Anderson is an acquired taste. I enjoyed some of his movies more on the second viewing once I had become more accustomed to his style."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I agree. I didn't care for The Life Aquatic at all when I first saw it, but liked it quite a bit the second time. And I loved Grand Budapest.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostMy bottom 4 are interchangeable. I liked them all though.

The new Planet of the Apes movie is good. Don't let the terrible sequels of the original film along with that Tim Burton PoS entry scare you off. The first film.in the reboot that came out in 2011 was surprisingly good, but this one is much better.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
