She enjoyed the movie more than she enjoyed you? Not sure I would admit that, even semi-publicly.

One of my new workers just recommended that to me this morning. Gonna give it a watch.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI saw project Hail Mary. It was a decent film but I found it a bit too campy for my taste. I liked the Martian better because it seems to have more science explained in the movie whereas PHM seemed to be pulling more on emotions. But I didn’t fall asleep, which is saying something.

Nope. MJ read it and enjoyed the movie more than meOriginally posted by PaloAltoCougar View Post
Had you read the book beforehand? That helped me fill in the science blanks that the film's length necessitated, like how they were able to communicate so quickly, and how astrophage works.

When it hits Amazon it will be the almost 4 hour directors cut. That will have the science stuff they cut out of the theater version.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI saw project Hail Mary. Mrs Happy and I went a saw "Hamnet". I enjoyed it, really evoked the 16th century. It's the story of Shakespeare's marriage and how the death of his son inspired maybe he greatest work.
A little historically suspect, but a good story never-the-less.

Finished the book. I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would. 3.5/5.
I am excited to see the movie with the book still top
of mind.

On Goodreads there about 1.5 million reviews, with a 4.5 average rating. It sound like GM is about a 3 star so far, which about 100k people rated it. So he has company, but is definitely in a minority.Originally posted by Green Monstah View Post
It’s not that I don’t like it. It’s fine. I’ve listened to 11 of 16 hours. If I truly didn’t like it, I would have already bailed. But I was really hoping that it would blow me away. It has not.
It doesn’t sound like he is being a hater just to be contrary or cool, which is always annoying.

You a weird dude, GM.

I'm not a sci fi guy either, but I enjoyed the book and thought the narrator was very good. I think you'll find the movie entertaining regardless. Worst case, you'll probably wish it wasn't as long.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostListening to the book now. Sci-fi is not my thing.
