Saw this tonight. Very fun movie and worth seeing in the theater. I'm not quite sure I understand the ending of it but maybe I"ll poke around on other forums and see if I can make sense of it.

I saw it today as well. Let me know if you figure out the ending. Because it didn't make any sense to me whatsoever. I sort of enjoyed the film.
      PLesa excuse the tpyos.

      • Heaven is for Real.

The story had interesting potential; they had actors you would recognize; but it mostly sucked. Terrible screenplay.

That's funny. My dad hates pretty much every movie ever made - I think the last one he liked was either The Jerk or One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but he liked Heaven is for Real. Go figure.

          • Edge of Tomorrow. Thought it was fun. Shocked that it was beaten out by a lame chick flick and Angelina's dog of a movie.

When I used to play Civ II obsessively, every time I lost a battle, I'd reset the game and restart the battle. Sometimes it would take 9 or 10 restarts to finally win a battle. When the game was revised in Civ III, I remember the game designer talking about how they had to modify the game intelligence "to prevent freakish outcomes like a single airplane strafing a battleship and sinking it." Yeah? well when you live in rewindland, that s#$% happens all the time.

                  Here are mine:

                  Spoiler for FWIW:
I've honestly thought about this a lot and can't come up with a reasonable explanation. I at first wondered if they were simply the day after the fight, but all the group was alive so I'm not sure how that would happen. It seems apparent they are back in time, but now they are back a bit farther than the original start point for the movie (he doesn't wake up on the tarmac) which could make sense except for the fact the mother mimic is gone. I've considered that since Cruise killed the mimic that he now has the power to control going back in time, and he'd want to go far enough back to reboot the lives of the people that helped him, and especially Blunt, but that makes no sense if the mother mimic is dead when he's back in time.

Ultimately I'm at a loss, but the ending didn't spoil the movie as it (the ending) was so nonsensical that it didn't make me think I totally missed something during the whole movie. Overall it was a well done movie from both a suspense and comedic aspect and I hope it does well in week 2.

Spoiler for a real big spoiler:
Blunt was saved; she was alive at that point. He went back to the point in time he was arriving at London to talk to the general. That point makes no sense at all. The Omega was dead, so how could time re-set? Cruise was originally hit with blood from an Alpha, not the Omega. The idea was the Omega controlled time through the Alphas (or something like that) but not the other way around. I suppose that when Cruise was floating in the water (and that is some deep hole under the Louvre) and he was hit with that iridescent blue stuff that it might be suggesting he becomes an Omega, as you suggest, just like the Alpha blood made him become a sort-of-alpha. Even so, why would he go back to that particular time? Why wouldn't he go back farther in time to avoid all the loss of life, etc. He could prevent the whole war. And, btw, if the Omega could do that, why wouldn't it just pop back in time to when the little band of cruisers crash their transport into Paris and have the mimics there waiting to kill them before they get to the Omega? The mantra was the battle on the beach was a slaughter "because they knew we were coming." IOW, the Omega could use the knowledge it gained in battle so why not use the knowledge of the attack on the Omega itself? I shouldn't have typed this; I always get annoyed at time travel plots and this one is starting to tick me off. On balance, however, I did enjoy it.

                        Spoiler for 'Huh?' is right:

Maybe it wouldn't have made for a good movie but it seems Cage and Rita could have taken a few cruise missiles with nuke warheads and sent those to take out the Omega... or at least some drones with a heavy payload of bombs. (One would think that given all the 'resets' they would stuff like that stashed away somewhere.) It didn't look like there was much to be saved at the Lourve anyway.

                        • Kings of Summer - two best friends and a weirdo tag along run away from home and build a house in the woods. The first part was very funny. I can see why some thought the latter, more dramatic portions were a little pretentious, but it worked for me. Includes bit parts by Silicon Valley's Thomas Middleditch, Kumail Nanjiani, and, very briefly, the Carver. Overall a pretty good little movie.

                          • We went and saw Malificent today.

                            Fun take on the story.

                            My kids liked it.

Used a gift card so it was all free.

                            So, happy all around.
Will donate kidney for B12 membership.
