    True....

Spoiler for those who still intend to see the movie:
Maybe she wasn't really killed when the alien mega-ship fell on her.

      Hmmm....

Spoiler for those who still intend to see the movie:
I hadn't thought of that. I told my wife I thought they'd have to do a bit of "clean up" on her character in the next one by showing the tumultuous relationship of she and Guy Pearce (flashback or something). Your explanation sounds more plausible though. Or perhaps she really is an adroid? We never did get to see the Captain and her doing the Event Horizon.

      • Darby O'Gill and the Little People.

Classic Disney fare. Sean Connery with his original hair.

        There is nothing better.

I haven't seen that in over 50 years. I wonder if the banshee would still scare the crap out of me, as it did back then.

It's truth. Scared me so much as a little kid, and was still a little creepy tonight. Viking's princesses were probably a little bit scared. But Sean singing about his darling Irish girl makes everything all better.

            • Darby O'Gill was one of the early movies that made me terrified of midgies.

What was up with Disney and midgie movies? The Gnome Mobile was another horror movie that freaked me out for years.

The other 2 midgie terror flicks that still give me the heebs to this day: Time Bandits (nightmares) and the mother of all terror movies....Under the Rainbow.

We actually discussed the use of little people in films. Can anyone confirm Viking's assertion that many of the Munchkins were Mormons?

No but that movie had a high terror quotient, as well. They need to unionize and Lobby for better roles in movies and TV. They are always tearing stuff up, nibbling on people's legs, pushing each other over, chasing someone on foot, or causing havoc. Even in a more modern context, you have the Seinfeld ones that were scheming to put lifts in their shoes, and the elf dude that gets really angry and brags about his expensive TV sets.

No, but I can confirm rumors that there is a "Hobbiton" (hidden community of midgets/little people) off 900 E. in Salt Lake! I suggest ddd take a Halloween trick or treat expedition there this year to stoke the old flames of holiday terror!

*and speaking of terrifying older children's movies-- what's up with the child molester in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?? = SCARY.

Isn't that last one now on Game of Thrones? I don't watch, but I feel like I've seen promo pics of him, and every time I do I am intrigued as to why he's not playing a jester of some sort (is this a terrible thing to say? Are we being unkind to the midget people? What do you call them anyway?).

I imagine these individuals are those who also wrestle other wee folks in Nephi?

I don't understand all the fuss about what a terrible movie this was. It wasn't exactly Waterworld here. I think it was a pretty cool, weird ride. It ran just a bit long and could have done with a little bit better scripting, but it was a far cry from horrible.

Except there are no little people there, just little houses.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Yes, that's him. He's one of the heroes of the story if you must know, overcoming the same kind of dismissive slights in the storyline that you are imposing upon him now! And as far as P.C. goes, midget is out, but I think dwarf is acceptable, or little person.

Seriously, he's an exceptional actor, and I really liked him in The Station Agent, which if you haven't seen should be on everyone's short list.

Really? The rumors I heard consisted of people getting chased out of the culdesac by cross midgets. Color me disappointed.

I know I need to watch GoT. I'll get to it eventually, but you're not the first person to commend his skill.
