If anything, I feel like it's kind of played itself put. But the people saying we are being judgmental and moralistic are reading this wrong. The situation is hilarious and it's very easily understood by even the most ignoramus among us. Humor at it's most distilled. It's not schadenfreude.

It's on my list of "potentially fun hobbies I would like to dabble in some day" but haven't had the time to pull the trigger on anything yet.

My cousin got a drone. He said it was fun at first learning how to fly it and stuff but then after a while it's boring because you don't have a real purpose or goal for flying it and there are so many restrictions about where and how fly you can fly it. He said neighbors hate it when you fly it around the neighborhood because they can hear it and they get suspicious and flying it in the foothills or mountains or canyons is also restricted (and outdoorsy people hate it for similar reasons as neighbors).

Also, I have a coworker that was into drones and stuff that used LIPO batteries. His LIPO batteries were stored in his basement and caught fire which caused significant damage. So be sure to research and practice LIPO battery storage safety and fire prevention/suppression.

When my brother lived in Maui he got a decent drone. He went crazy with it, mapping coordinates, dubbing music and making short videos. For about 2 months. Then he never picked it up again.
