It's surprising how smoky it is after all the rain we've gotten. I flew back from Fresno yesterday, and the sky was really gross as viewed from above the clouds. Just nasty.

Driving to Salt Lake last night was an ordeal. Standing water on the freeway, hydro-planing, very low visibility. Not that fun. Hope you guys appreciate this deluge!Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Delta got 4.3 inches in about 12 hours. Looks like everyone got flooded, especially basements.
I manage a rental home there on behalf of my mom's estate. Can't get my property manager to even check on it as he is busy drying out his own home. Yeesh."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

In DFW we got 3.03" in Mar, 4.50" in Apr, 7.7" in May, and 2.15" in Jun. 2.6" isn't bad but those are rookie numbers. You got to pump those up.Originally posted by BigFatMeanie View PostMy rain gauge in South Jordan showed 2 inches yesterday. The average for August is about 0.6" The wettest month of the year is April with about 2.6" so 2" in August is fantastic.

Firefighters battling the Dixie Fire have also been facing a second enemy: a serial arsonist who went on a spree of setting fires in July and August — and who sought to trap fire crews with his fires, according to agents from the U.S. Forest Service. They allege former college professor Gary Maynard is the culprit, citing their tracking of his movements and other evidence.
"Where Maynard went, fires started. Not just once, but over and over again," the government said in a court memorandum arguing for Maynard to be denied bail.
....
Maynard, 47, is a former professor who has taught at colleges in New York and California, according to online records. Last fall, he taught in the criminology and criminal justice department at Sonoma State University, which says in its official bio for Maynard that he has a doctorate in sociology and three master's degrees.
His teaching and research, the school said, focuses on topics that include the "sociology of health, deviance and crime" and environmental sociology. Maynard also has connections to other schools, from Stony Brook University in New York (where he received his doctorate) to Santa Clara University, where he also taught.

There was one in Woods Cross, Utah on Saturday. Not big, but did some tree, fence, and roof damage about 1/2 mile from my brother's house.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostWhat are tornados called now?

Tropical storm Nicholas is currently predicted to pass directly over my house sometime in the very early AM hours tomorrow. It shouldn't cause too much physical damage since it's moving at a good clip so flooding is likely not going to be too bad plus the winds are only TS level so I doubt we'll have too much of an issue. However, it has already caused some severe emotional damage. My daughter has had Harry Styles concert tickets since 2019. He cancelled the initial show due to Covid and rescheduled for tonight. I kid you not that for the past week she has been hyped up for the concert. We got word 2 hours ago that it was being postponed (I don't have the heart to tell her that's code for 'cancelled' when it comes to concerts). Not only is my daughter absolutely heart broken, but there's at least two other girls in our ward that are distraught."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
