I got to be on the cleanup from the Teton Dam - they bused "volunteers" from our stake up to help

There was some speculation that the down stream American Falls dam on the Snake river wouldn't hold so my father, brothers and I skipped church and drove there to watch it break. It didn't break but we saw lots of dead cows floating down the river.

Yup, we appreciated the help. Mucking all that mud out of houses wasn't fun. My stake was assigned to help in the Hibbard area, just west of Rexburg. There was a house (with a full basement) with a corner of the footings and foundation hanging in mid-air because the flood waters had scoured all the dirt from around and under it. And a VW beetle stuck 10 feet up a tree.

When is Harvey Part II going to hit?

I’m currently stuck downtown. Took the bus in today and most of the freeways are impassable due to rain/flooding from Imelda so they shut down bus service for the time being. There’s a good chance I’ll be stuck downtown for the night.

At least there’s a baseball game tonight so I could hit that and I have a tv in my office so I could just watch Thursday night nfl and order in shake shack. But it could be a long night without a bed (I have a yoga mat )

Yeah, we are all fine... The news said that about 87,000 folks are without power. The home depot up the street got wrecked, however:

Glad you were safe. I've been in earthquakes, hurricanes, and tornadoes. There's something terrifying about tornadoes to me. I'll still never forget the first time I heard tornado sirens go off. Or the time my mission companion and I slept right through one that touched down a mile from our apartment and destroyed half a Walmart. We were completely oblivious until we were driving around to appointments the next day.

Yeah, this one was about a mile or so from us. When the sirens went off around half-time of the Cowboys/Eagles game we went outside to see what was going on. We saw the funnel cloud. Then went back in to watch the second half.
