That was a foolish comparison. Wazzu is awful. I am not sure that Wazzu would have a winning record if they played in the WAC, I mean the new WAC minus Boise, Nevada and Fresno.Get confident, stupid

From DDD: "I don't know the answer to this, but what was that ranking last year amongst the same sample set? It would be interesting to see if there was much difference.
My earlier point was totally ignored which is par for the course amongst such a collection of hooligans and degenerates, but comparing Utah to USC or Texas or whatnot is silly. Compare Utah against previous Utah classes and I definitely think the Utes will see a jump in quality over the years, even if they finish in the middle of the PAC with a 7-5 record in any given season.
Utah's class today sort or supports this notion...look at the guys they were in the running to land....several 4 stars. And they closed the deal on two 4-stars, which is already showing improvement." (you are good at trolling).

Nothing has changed. Utah went from 7th in 2009 and 2010 to 6th this year because UCLA totally messed up this year. Utah's average star ranking per recruit is the exact same as the previous two years. So where is the improvement?

There is no good reason for Utah ever to compete with USC, UCLA or Washington for recruits. However, there is no reason they can't aspire to a no. 4 ranking. Oregon is on a terrific roll, and who knows, maybe it will become the Nebraska of the Pac. I kind of doubt it, just because of the way Ducks are by their very nature angrily, boistrously, and odiferously second rate (HFN, our MVP, excluded). Utah can aspire to compete on a regular basis with nine of the schools. This will put them in a position to win a Pac 12 championship every now and then.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI don't know the answer to this, but what was that ranking last year amongst the same sample set? I blame all of this on oxcoug and his seemingly unquenchable thirst for Ute blood. We need to rename this emoticon :stirthepot: to "oxcoug"When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Hey ignoramous, Utah is in the Pac because it had been competitive with Pac schools already in almost any way imagineable. No one said Pac membership would be a magic pill for Utah to vault to the top of the Pac. Today's rankings compared to last year's prove this. Now the task is to climb the ladder further within the Pac, which it can do with its new distinction as a Pac 12 member. Absent being in the Pac club, Utah probably had hit a glass ceiling. Now there's no reason Utah can't be where Oregon is in a few years, unless you can think of a principled reason why Portland has anything on Salt Lake, or Oregon on Utah. They don't; it wasn't a fluke that got Utah sitting where it is. It was on the merits.Originally posted by Tone Loc View PostNothing has changed. No matter how you slice it, no matter how much crack you blow, the hard truth remains that Utah's situation, its base and its its upside, are infinitely better than BYU's independence. Oregon only has 2 temples, Utah has 15. Oh nevermind, back to the question of whether or not utah's recruiting is any better now they are in the pac 12. Answer, no. Rebuttal?

But now, given these modest self-assessments by our resident Ute pundits, and coupled with the implicit assumption that there will be no further changes on the collegiate athletics landscape, I am left with only ballroom dance as a source of pride.

It's interesting how innocent I actually am.
Just looking for a civil exchange of thoughts on the new Utah reality, in which the Utes will travel (like us Cougar fans) to a lot of bowl dates in places like San Francisco, San Diego and Las Vegas, but unlike us it will be to wrap up an unranked 6 win season instead of a 10-11 win top 15 season. And while we will have a legit shot at playing the Utes' new USC, Oregon and Stanford overlords in post-season matchups, the Utes will learn to close their eyes and take it when those schools manhandle them in the regular season.
I just find it interesting.Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī
