Hell will freeze over before Stanford, Cal, or UW is in the same conference with San Diego State.

Correct. Everyone knows that it all rests on your global university ranking.

"cork sniffers". Lol. I am stealing that.

AAU does not mean automatic admission to the big 10, but it's a limiting factor, except Notre Dame, which is excellent at the academic things it does.

AAU (Amatuer Athletic Union) has more relavance in conference re-alignment than the AAU you're posting about. If Fresno State could bring in a hundred mill in TV revenue they would probably be a shoe-in for the Big10 or SEC. It's all about the dollars at this point. No one cares about whether or not one is AAU affiliated or a research institution.

You're a dumb fan. Two handy ways to judge intelligence. How people talk about Covid and how they talk about sports business.

UM Ann Arbor's total revenue is $10.4 billion. The football program revenue is $37 million. And the athletic department lost a lot of money Those who actually stir the drink at these schools at most tolerate football. Totally apart from values, they care more about their brand than winning any national championship. Football does nothing but challenge the coveted aspects of their brand.

The Ivy League established a precedent of sports league affiliation associated with academic excellence.

to say nothing of the fact that Fresno being an academic backwater is one reason it could never deliver a hundred mil TV revenue

Is the equipment of the football teams in the BIG also being sent by charter?

Well, the teams should have more than a days notice they are playing across the country. Not sure that’s a good comparison.

I'm not making a comparison, but rather thinking through the logistics of travel. As I said, I figured teams brought the equipment with them on the plane, but remembered those stories. As an aside, I did a Google search and only one NFL team has their own plane—the Patriots. So, USC is going to have its own plane but the Dallas Cowboys do not?

This is an interesting method of coping.

I think you have me mixed up with someone else. I'm triple vaxed and proud of it. As for sports, I can hang.

The plane comment was flippant. I doubt USC buys a plane. They certainly could. They’d also use it a lot more than an NFL team since a college has two dozen or so sports and an NFL team had 8 or 9 away games.

I can guarantee you that if a team like Alabama or aTm felt that buying a plane would get them a national championship or two, they’d have the money from boosters yesterday.

                              Rumblings about GT to B1G?

#GaTech being eyed by the Big Ten as a potential new addition? There are rumblings coming from another ACC school that there is interest in the Jackets' program. Rumors... as the nutty season continues. https://t.co/vlDWNSp6Tr
