I just am amazed that folks can have strong opinions. I don't even know what the optimal conference size is anymore. I have no clue what these conferences are looking for or how it will all come together. I just look at USC and UCLA in the Big 10 and feel stupid because I think it is so basically stupid for two LA schools to be affiliated, in all college sports, with the Big 10. I am assuming there is just so much I don't understand, but how the hell will baseball and softball make this work? It is just ludicrous. The only logic I can find compelling is SC and UCLA admins both believe that football will be uncoupled from the athletic departments and they want to be positioned for the inevitable big conference football split from the NCAA.
