I agree. I think the hype we saw last year is more warranted this year. I think BYU is going to be good. I have a one in three/one in nine rule. One out of three years BYU has a team good enough to make a national level splash. One out of three years the luck factors can line up enough to make it legitimately possible. We had that team in 2006 and flubbed two games we should have won. We had a team that good in 2009 but forgot to show up in our home opener against a team that rarely draws much interest named Florida State. With some improvements, mostly from the running backs IMO, I think BYU is that good this year but they must remember to show up every week and get some good luck.

If Riley can stay healthy all year it will be a fun year and I think they will win 10 or more games.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

If we win 10 or more regular season games this season, I will be with the crowd who thinks a BYU 10 win season was really good and worthy of a top 25. The road schedule is just that tough that 2-2 against Utah, BSU, ND and Georgia tech is quite acceptable.

that would be acceptable, but not special.

          What is the "special" threshold?

To think this group will top out at 10 wins is disappointing. Oh well.

              It is all semantics.

Acceptable = win all 6 @ home, win two easy road games, win 1 of 4 tough road games. So 9-3.
Good = Win 2 of four tough road games. So 10-2.
Special = Win 3 of tough roadies. So 11-3.
Once in a generation season = Win every game on regular season schedule. 12-0!

So are we playing 12 or 14 games this year?

                      My own criteria.

Very good season. Win all home games, win two of tough four away games.

Excellent season. 3 of 4 tough away games.

Special season, undefeated. There just aren't enough really good opponents on the schedule to call a 11-1 season special. I need to relook at 2013, but if I remember the schedule right, 11-1 could be called special.

It is hard to call a season special when at least half the teams you play are in the "dog" category.

Wouldn't that eliminate every year BYU has ever played from being special?
