Sandusky is going to prison for a long time. It is inevitable. The only thing he can do on TV is deny everything...and the only thing the will do is make people more angry.
They entrapped him with the name of the show: Rock Center.

He clearly thought it was something else...

    • One thing discussed today on Mike and Mike was the statement from the Attorney was they will have "Victim 1" testify against the statement from McQuery. I find it shady that this person was lost and no one knew who he was except Sanscumbaggy and suddenly he is found and is going to refute the statement..

He also said they have other kids that will be testifying...

        What a great strategy.

And in the future, rape suspects will bring in a string of women witnesses who will all testify that the rapist did NOT rape them.

Future murder suspects will bring in a string of people to testify that the murderer did NOT kill them.

Bank robbers will bring in a string of bank tellers to testify that the robber did NOT rob their bank...

What's the point of this, exactly? No one is alleging that he molested every boy he ever had contact with.

It will be interesting to see how they prove that the boy testifying as victim #1 was the exact same person that McQuery saw as a boy years ago.

It isn't that he has convinced himself that it is ok. He actually thinks it is ok and has as long as he has been doing it. Pedophiles actually don't see their behavior as aberrant. He thinks he hasn't done anything but love those boys unconditionally....and his actions are the proof. It really is their mindset.

What's next? Craig James is going to trot out hookers to refute internet rumors he killed them?

That was my first thought.. How can ANYONE really know for sure if this is in fact Victim #1.. Only he knows and I bet McQuery doesn't even know since he only saw the backside of the boy...

His responses were very creepy when I heard his interview...

I forget - how long ago was victim #1?

Even if McQuery went up and introduced himself to the 10 year-old and shook his hand and looked him in the eye - there is NO WAY that he is recognizing a kid who was once 10 years old and is now what - 19-20 years old? And who he only met once. It ain't happening.

Actually, McQueery saw the boy and the boy saw McQueery. And McQueery now says that he did in fact stop the rape when he saw it before going to call his father to decide how to report etc.
Still, highly unlikely McQueery will be able to confirm the kids identity. But if the boy remembers McQueery's alleged intervention, then the story can be corroborated. Though I find it highly unlikely.

A question I have is, what is preventing McQ and his father from speaking out to clarify their story, if clarification is needed? Can't we get a transcript of their testimony before the grand jury? I suppose it is sealed for now. FOI request?

                      • May I add that it annoys me when people say, like Bob Costas did last night, that people like Sandusky "deserve a presumption of innocence" or similar sentiments? Evil doers deserve no such benefit. They don't deserve the rights and benefits they are afforded in our criminal justice system. They are merely entitled to them.

We don't give criminals these protections because they "deserve" them. We grant them because the system itself requires it in order for the entire system to be just and fair, or so we believe.

Probably just semantics, but it still bugs me.

The accused may deserve the presumption of innocence in the courtroom, but not in public opinion.

I did not fully read the transcript so was unaware that McQuery did in fact break it up. Do you have a link of this clarification?? And if in fact this is true then how in the hell can Sandscumbag even call McQuery a liar and say he did not do this (per the interview last night).

As for them McQuery speaking out. I think because he is part of the witnesses to the case (And may still testify again) he is by law not allowed to speak about it in public etc...

                            • David Brooks says it better than I. In his Op-Ed today: Let’s All Feel Superior

Perhaps a few of you should send him some nasty comments about why he is devoid of all moral reasoning.

First came the atrocity, then came the vanity. The atrocity is what Jerry Sandusky has been accused of doing at Penn State. The vanity is the outraged reaction of a zillion commentators over the past week, whose indignation is based on the assumption that if they had been in Joe Paterno’s shoes, or assistant coach Mike McQueary’s shoes, they would have behaved better.
So many people do nothing while witnessing ongoing crimes, psychologists have a name for it: the Bystander Effect. The more people are around to witness the crime, the less likely they are to intervene.
People are really good at self-deception. We attend to the facts we like and suppress the ones we don’t. We inflate our own virtues and predict we will behave more nobly than we actually do. As Max H. Bazerman and Ann E. Tenbrunsel write in their book, “Blind Spots,” “When it comes time to make a decision, our thoughts are dominated by thoughts of how we want to behave; thoughts of how we should behave disappear.”
Commentators ruthlessly vilify all involved from the island of their own innocence. Everyone gets to proudly ask: “How could they have let this happen?”

The proper question is: How can we ourselves overcome our natural tendency to evade and self-deceive. That was the proper question after Abu Ghraib, Madoff, the Wall Street follies and a thousand other scandals. But it’s a question this society has a hard time asking because the most seductive evasion is the one that leads us to deny the underside of our own nature.

It's not in the grand jury report. It is what McQ is now claiming in an email to his players.
