I lived in NYC for several years this past decade.Originally posted by Viking View PostSee, you clearly know shit about the east coast!
It is the place college football goes to die.
Those few people who are college football fans do not waste their time with schools associated with shit sandwiches, for the most part. Big 10 teams like OSU and Michigan are followed more readily.
I did know one Rutgers fan once. I even went to a game.
I don't think I met any Uconn fans. I met a couple of passive BC fans I think, but they could have just been saying that because of the booze.
Mostly the other college football fans and I would get together and talk about how we all felt like we were Jews living in Iran.
But YMMV, I guess.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

Who is still in the BE, or who will be if BYU heads in this direction?
East Division
Louisiville
Rutgers
UConn
South Florida
Cincinatti
Memphis??
West Division
BYU
SMU
AFA
BSU
UCF
Houston
Is that right? It is better than independence. It gives BYU a good end of the year rivalry game with BSU.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Sorry but I beg to differ. The biggest team in NYC is easily ND, from my experience, then UM (tons of meesheegan guys in NYC) but lots of old timers/true NYers follow Rutgers and UConn. 'Cuse to the ACC was a big blow to the NYC mkt but they've sucked for a long time. When Rutgers was making its BCS run, NYC was ablaze with Rutgers fever.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostNo. Nobody in those major markets gives a flying rip about UConn, Rutgers and Navy.

I would not say ablaze but I would say that NY'ers will follow a good college football team but when it comes to football they only will follow them when good.Originally posted by Viking View PostSorry but I beg to differ. BTW, there's no better setting for a college football game for my money than Michie on a clear day.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI would not say ablaze but I would say that NY'ers will follow a good college football team but when it comes to football they only will follow them when good.

Yeah, see, not only was I there for that, but I lived not four miles from Rutgers' stadium (worked in the city, having lived there the previous three). I went to a game that year with said friend. Nobody cared. Beg to differ all you want; I maintain that NYC is a pro sports town and college isn't even second fiddle.Originally posted by Viking View PostSorry but I beg to differ. In a city of over 8 million people, of course you had fans of any given team. But NYC is where apathy happens, if you are college football, at least in the aggregate.
(I'll stipulate ND, though - they were the one team people almost cared about).Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

That's because you don't drink. Come to Molly's at 4pm on any given Saturday and you'll see what I mean.Originally posted by nikuman View PostYeah, see, not only was I there for that, but I lived not four miles from Rutgers' stadium (worked in the city, having lived there the previous three). I do, however, agree that no doubt, NYC is a pro sports town. But only 5% of 8mm people in the greatest city in the world need to tune in to college sports to be 2x the number if 10% of Utahns do so.
Why on earth did you move to Jersey? Don't tell me for tax savings or the money! No one leaves NYC. You might think you did, but you can never leave NYC.

Kids. Kids and schools and space. And money and taxes. It wasn't the same. We haven't left NYC even yet, especially my wife. That place changed both of us in some pretty marvelous ways.Originally posted by Viking View PostWhy on earth did you move to Jersey? Don't tell me for tax savings or the money! No one leaves NYC.
