Yeah, the administration totally would ok a move to the Big Least and then a year or two later accept an offer from the Big XII after only a year or two of independence. I'm pretty sure the admins don't want to be seen as conference hoppers. I can't say I disagree.

Hopefully Boise State doesn't join the Big East, otherwise that conference will lose all of it's credibility. I'm okay with Air Force being in the Big East ONLY because it's a military academy that's tied to Army/Navy, and the Air Force is a national thing.

One of the reasons the Big East may be holding off on any expansion announcements about potential new members is that it is considering a plan that would create a nation-wide football conference incorporating between 28 and 32 teams in four divisions from Conference USA, the Mountain West Conference as well as the Big East.

Interesting. It seems like it would allow more teams a better chance to get to a BCS bowl game, but I wonder if the BCS would have to give the okey-dokey before the winner of the mini-playoff between the 4 division winners would get the automatic bid.

If they end up doing this they could schedule it like this:

Play Everyone In your division 6 games

Play one game in 2 of the other divisions (example west teams play one game in the central and big east divisions)

End of the year every team has an open date the two western divisions play
1 v 1, 2 v 2 etc... and the eastern divisions do the same. Switch off which teams get the home games every year.

The winners of the 1-1 games play in the Conf championship of the highest ranked bcs team stadium.

This may work. It gives the mid majors a chance at a BCS bowl and it's takes the BCS people off the hot seat because now everybody is included in the hunt.

It is believed representatives of the other Big East FBS members -- Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Rutgers and South Florida -- were at the Washington meeting.
