But Frazier hasn't been practicing lately, I don't think. Kind of hard not to rise above some one who's not there.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Right. But it's still a comment from Wednesday (are you on HotLunch's news schedule over there in Vegas?!) speculating that KVN had moved ahead of Frazier, and at that time Bronco wasn't willing to say KVN had moved ahead of Frazier. They quote that little snippet but then didn't quote what he said right after it.Originally posted by falafel View PostBut Frazier hasn't been practicing lately, I don't think. ) but I think it shows Mendenhall's state of mind. He's not willing to publicly state that KVN has moved ahead of Frazier, especially with Frazier out, but he's already thinking ahead to having KVN along side Kav and Pendelton.

Could he? The physical tools are definitely there. One of the simplest things to do in football in terms of thinking/assignments is to rush the passer. I think he can have an impact in those terms this year, though is it enough that he can do it at a higher level than JP/KVN, as guys who can contribute more meaningfully in pass coverage or in terms of assignments against the run? That is where his limitations are, IMO, is that if he is in the game, he's going to be there to rush the passer. Maybe things click for him as the year goes on and he can learn enough to be more than just a niche player, but it's hard to have somebody be a monster when they've got one skill (even with the physical tools that he has).Originally posted by oxcoug View PostAnother sack for Ziggy. And beat Reynolds.
Cld Ziggy be a monster in the making?

Well, I'm with you there. I'm not sure how you don't start KVN. On the flip side, it sure is tough to sit someone the team has voted as a captain (which is also the case with Uale).Originally posted by falafel View PostYes, from Wednesday (

There will be plenty of snaps to go around for JP/KVN and Frazier. Unfortunately all three guys also don't have stellar histories of staying healthy. Maybe they're all due?!?Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostWell, I'm with you there. I'm not sure how you don't start KVN. Ziggy could end up having some huge games against WAC teams too, especially if BYU puts up a lot of points early. I could see him going off for like 4 sacks in a game against san jose st. or new mexico st. Games like that would give him a chance to do more than just rush the passer too.

I love the expectations running rampant on here. KVN and JP are both going to get 20+ sacks this year! Ziggy is going to have 4+ sack games!Originally posted by BemidjiCoug View PostZiggy could end up having some huge games against WAC teams too, especially if BYU puts up a lot of points early. Do you know how many times a BYU player has had a 4+ sack game? 4.
6 Shay Muirbrook vs. Kansas St. (1997 Cotton Bowl)
4 Jason Buck vs. Oregon State 1986
4 Kyle Whittingham vs. San Diego St. 1981
4 Setema Gali vs. New Mexico 1999
Do you know how many BYU players have had 20 sacks... in their careers? 8. 17 is the most sacks any BYU player has ever had in a season... and we're going to have two guys eclipse that this year?
I know most of this isn't from you... but man, put your statistical expectations back in check.

Ask and you shall receive:Originally posted by DapperDan View PostNow if we could start hearing stories of Ziggy doing things that aren't rushing the QB I would get really, really excited.
Ansah has gone from situational rusher to a top-two fixture at weakside right now; Bronco says Ziggy is in the two-deep.

Plus if we're blowing out WAC teams to the point where he's getting put out there on the field, I highly doubt we're going to be blitzing the passer.Originally posted by Sizzle View PostI love the expectations running rampant on here.
