That isn't what I'm talking about. I'm referring more to his development as a throwing QB.

The entire debate has been about whether or not he has any accuracy and can throw the ball.

I've never thought he was as bad as his detractors nor as good as his biggest fans. But I thought he was serviceable and didn't always get the credit he deserved.

Now, I'm assuming, we'll see him playing a little more like a traditional QB. More mobile than some, not as strong armed as others. But I suspect Doman won't be calling as many running plays.

That's all I'm saying. Maybe it seems like I'm making a big deal of this from the multiple responses - but really I'm not. If you go back to my original post on the subject - from the beginning all I've been saying is that this development is creating some intrigue for me and has me curious as to how Riley will perform. That's all.

Matt Reynolds, T, BYU: Reynolds bypassed last April's draft after suffering a shoulder injury and entered the season with high expectations from scouts. Thus far, though, he has looked soft and been a huge disappointment. Once considered a potential top-75 choice, Reynolds will now be a last-day selection.

      Ouch.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

NFL draft countdown still grades him as a fringe first round pick.

ESPN has him as a 2nd-3rd round pick.

Profootball weekly as a 2nd-3rd round pick.

Last night on 1280 Jan had Hans Olson call into their version of the BYU v Hawaii pregame show and Hans said a 2013 home game with a B1G opponent would be announced (part of 2 for 1 would assume) and that the game would be scheduled in November. Did I miss something? Can anyone confirm this?

Perhaps the manifestation of the oft-rumored Wisconsin series?

If we do a 2:1 with Wisconsin, it better be the last part of the season.

              First four games: level 1
first half of October: level 2
second half of October: level 3
              November: level 4

              Level 1:
home and homes with mid tier BCS league teams
home money games or 2:1's in our favor with low level D1 programs
              2:1's with top 5 programs

              Level 2:
              3:1 or 4:1 with USU
              2:1's with programs top 6-15
home/home/neutral stuff with non top 10 programs
home and home with anyone willing excluding the bottom 1/3 of FBS

              Level 3:
              2:1's with programs top 6-15
home/home/neutral stuff with non top 10 programs
home and home with anyone willing
              non FBS school

              Level 4:
more favorable deal with Utah State
2:1's with any program in top 40
              Hawaii
              Army, Navy
home and home's with anyone willing
Utah (Pac says no, then we'll pass on the September game, we got bigger fish to fry)

Actually I am more curious about wisconsin and this quote:

If we do a 2:1 with Wisconsin, it better be the last part of the season.
Seems strange they wouldnt be in level one or two.

Come on pay attention. I said 2:1's in level 2 and 3 for programs in the 6-15 range. This would imply level 2 would be 6-10ish and 3 would be 11-15ish.

I'm being facetious, but the point here is that I think we need some sort of overriding strategic definition to how we're scheduling and when. We seem to be just signing random teams and putting them wherever on the schedule they're willing to go.

The only teams in the top 40 (using the New York Times link) that would play you guys in November or late October are Big East Teams. How would you feel about 2:1 with UCONN, Rutgers or Pittsburgh?

Up to one 2:1 with one of those teams for a November game would be acceptable (given the shitty situation we're in trying to schedule teams as an independent).

BYU offering a 2:1 with anyone but the top 10 is a pretty damn good deal for them. Everyone wants to balance home games with a solid schedule. We need to leverage the timing if we're willing to offer that.
